Middle School Golf: Mustangs enjoy 19-stroke victory

The Saddle Ridge golf team scored a 19shot victory over Walker County foe Gordon Lee in a match at Canyon Ridge last Tuesday.

Led by low medalist Scott Smith’s 48, the Mustangs came in at 220. Brady Mullaly shot a 55 for Saddle Ridge, followed by a 58 from Christian Howard and a 59 from Riley Mitchell.

The Trojans finished up at 239. Cora Mount and Jay Roberts each carded a 58 for Gordon Lee. Noah Dockery had a 61 and Andrew Sizemore turned in a 62. 52 and Cohen Shattuck had a 58 to round out the Tigers’ team total of 211.

LaFayette was second with a 221, though they did have the day’s low medalist in Grant Langford, who carded a 39. Jud Woods (59), Emma Moore (60) and Aidan Sampley (63) also teed it up for the Ramblers.

Chanse Lewis continued his recent strong play for Chattanoog­a Valley with a 42, good enough for second-lowest score of the day. Caroline Hodges carded a 57, followed by Chris Sullivan and Grayson Brown, who each shot a 63 to fill out the Eagles’ 225.

Eagles slip past Trojans

Chattanoog­a Valley earned a fourshot victory, 210-214, over Gordon Lee in a lightning-shortened middle school match at Canyon Ridge this past

Thursday.

Lewis was the day’s low medalist with a 46, while Hodges shot a 56 to place fourth out of 12 in the individual standings.

The final two groups only completed eight of nine holes when lightning was detected. Final scores were tabulated by taking the scores from the two groups that completed all nine holes and adding the next best totals from each team.

Noah Dockery finished with a score of 50 for eight holes for the Trojans, while Sizemore shot 52 for eight holes. Roberts shot a 55 for nine holes, while Mount finished her nine holes and shot a 57.

Lyle under par at LaFayette

Robert Lyle of Heritage shot a 34 this past Thursday as the Generals (179) claimed victory in a four-team match at LaFayette. Saddle Ridge (206) was second, followed by Lakeview (228) and Rossville (238).
