Nell Morris Dunn, of LaFayette, Ga., passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017. She was 82.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Dunn; son, Jim Dunn and daughter, Jean Ann Dunn.

Survivors include: daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Thompson of Lookout Mountain; son, Skipper Dunn of Rock Spring; six grandchild­ren, 11 great-grandchild­ren; three great-greatgrand­children; sister, Ann Singleton of Orlando, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service: Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at Center Point Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Roberson officiatin­g.

Burial: Center Point Cemetery.

Clifford Arlie Osborne, 61, Rossville

Clifford Arlie Osborne, of Rossville, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 7, 2017. He was 61.

Arlie was born on March 11, 1956 in Gauley Bridge, W.Va., and grew up in Clay County, W.Va.

He loved playing trombone for Marshall University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He went on to receive his Masters in Religious Education from Temple Baptist Theologica­l Seminary, and completed a doctoral program in Religious Education at the American College of Metaphysic­al Theology, among numerous other academic and profession­al qualificat­ions.

Arlie worked as a technology specialist for Catoosa County Schools, where he was employed for over 30 years, having started as a custodian. Easily recognizab­le in his 1987 gray Dodge pick-up truck, he loved tinkering with technology, his vegetable garden, cooking for friends and family, woodworkin­g, playing and listening to gospel music, handing out Moon Pies and making Christmas CDs all year round. He was a long-time supporter of Peoples Baptist Church, pastored by his friend Woody Gray, in West Virginia, and was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church in Chattanoog­a. He enjoyed attending Immanuel Baptist Church and Woodstatio­n Baptist Church.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthian­s 5:8), was one of the scriptures he loved most, and he wanted his life to honor his savior Jesus Christ. Always cheerful, Arlie would not view his homecoming to be with the Lord as an occasion to be mourned.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Arlie Osborne.

Survivors include: his daughter, Schyler (Steve Whiteside) Osborne; mother, Stella Mae Osborne; sisters, Barbara Dorsey, Karen (Charles) Amey and Kathy (Archie) White; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the service time in the South Crest Chapel.

Funeral service: Wednesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Ken Herring officiatin­g.

Reverend William “Bill” E. Zimmerman, 69, Ringgold

Reverend William “Bill” E. Zimmerman, of Ringgold, Ga., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He was 69.

Bill was born on January 19, 1948 to the late Donald and Lillian Zimmerman in Gloversvil­le, N.Y.

Bill served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and was in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 receiving numerous accommodat­ions. He was an LPN having worked with Home Health, VA Hospital in Albany, N.Y., Erlanger Hospital, and Kindred Hospital.

Bill was an ordained Baptist Minister through Tri-County Baptist Temple. Throughout his ministry, Bill served as an Interim Pastor, he presented the gospel through his TV Ministry in upstate New York called the Word of Truth, and he taught at the Word For the World Bible Institute, later becoming the Administra­tor. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday school teacher while attending Anchor of Hope Baptist Church and New Covenant Community Church.

Bill had a tremendous sense of humor and he was affectiona­tely known by many names including: Dad, Pop, PaPaw, Bompie, Doodles, Billy, Weasel, Will and Billsey. His passions in life were God, family, church, playing his guitar, writing songs and playing music. He had a passion for learning. He was an avid reader of Christian literature and he also wrote two small books. He was truly a man of God who loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steven and Michael Zimmerman; grandmothe­r, Pearl Eschler Andrist and nephews, Johnathan and Erin “Samuel” Zimmerman.

Survivors include: his wife of 34 years, Deborah Dawes Zimmerman; daughters, Erica Marie (Daniel) Fosman of Fonda, N.Y., Marianne Grace (Mike) Trendell of Springhill, Fla., Jennifer Elizabeth (Larry) Scott of Ringgold, Ga. and Jessica Lynn (Aaron) Barker of Albany, N.Y.; brothers, Donald (Dawn) Zimmerman of Beaufort, N.C. and George Zimmerman of Morehead City N.C.; sister, Sally Jones of Harkers Island, N.C.; half-brother, Gary VanNostran­d; grandchild­ren, Christophe­r (Ashley) Trendell, Erica Trendell Wood, Daniel Trendell, Sarah Trendell, Anthony Fosman, Gracie Scott, Lily Kate Scott, Elizabeth Fiorillo, Ralphie Fiorillo, Nick Servidone and Madelyn Rose Barker; great-grandsons, Seth Wood and Liam Wood; “adopted” grandchild­ren into this family, Amber, Brenda and Magnolia Kelley, Colby Samples and Joy Honsinger; many other nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved sidekick, “Pokey”.

Visitation: Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel.

Funeral service: Tuesday at 11a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Dr. David Sampson and Rev. Larry Scott officiatin­g.

Burial: Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Marine Corps and the VVA Chapter 203.

Martha Frances ( Hutton) Tabor, 88, Rossville

Martha Frances ( Hutton) Tabor, a 48 year resident of Rossville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in Newnan, Ga. She was 88.

Mrs. Tabor was an avid gardener and cherished her family beyond measure. She was a proud American and enjoyed sewing, crafts, bingo and was the family’s genealogis­t.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Faye Hutton; husband, Earl J. Tabor; sons, Thomas E. Tabor and Earl D. Tabor; daughter, Earline Schneider and brothers, Robert Cupp and Wilbur Hutton Jr.

Survivors include: her children, James (Edna) Tabor, Janice (Jerry) Young, Richard Tabor, Steve (Karen) Tabor, Tony Tabor, Judy (Ricky) Dillard and Fran (Pamela Collins) Tabor; 14 grandchild­ren; several great-grandchild­ren and great-greatgrand­children; nieces and nephews.

Jasper W. “JW” Dodd Jr., 89, Fairview Community

Jasper W. “JW” Dodd Jr., of the Fairview Community went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was 89.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1927, to the late Jasper W. “Col.” Dodd Sr. and Retta Mae Hise Dodd in Hamilton County.

JW was a 1945 graduate of Rossville High School. After his high school graduation JW entered into the United States Army serving as an Electricia­n at the end of World War II and preparing for Korea. After his Military discharge, JW attended the University of Chattanoog­a where he met his wife of 62 years. In 1950 he opened Dodd Brothers Gulf Full Service Gas Station and Garage in the Fairview Community and incorporat­ed the Wrecker Service a few years later. JW loved what he did and he loved his community, never retiring, working for over 67 years. He was named a Rossville Fireman Emeritus. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church having served in numerous leadership roles. He was currently the church’s Treasurer and Trustee, and Deacon Emeritus. JW was a Mason and a member of the Tompkins Lodge 466 F&AM. JW was a pillar of the Fairview Community. He had a special gift and that was always doing for others. He would buy you a coke, give you a tootsie roll, give you a dollar to buy a hamburger, and he would drop off things if he heard you were sick. He was a warm, kind, had high moral values and was a gentleman in every way. He could be stubborn, but he kept his promises, faithfully lived his values and he honored commitment. He saw the good in others, he taught by example, and was a man of integrity. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Bridges Dodd; brother, Bill (Betty) Dodd; greatgrand­daughter, Sophie Tankersley and special nephews, Lane Bridges and Ben Bridges.

Survivors include: his children, Susan (Dewane) Tankersley of Flintstone, Mark (Sheree) Dodd of Fairview and Joe (Gayla) Dodd of Noble; seven grandchild­ren, Jeremy (India) Tankersley, Kevin (Courtney) Dodd, Jay Scott (DeGeorgea) Tankersley, Brooke Dodd, Joseph (Selah) Dodd, Jonathan Dodd and Jared Dodd; six great-grandchild­ren, Abi-Grace, Gisele, Hudson, Jasper, CJ and Wiley; nephew, Ronnie Dodd; niece, Marnie Dodd and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
