MIddle School Soccer: Crowe sets a new school mark in CVMS win

A Chattanoog­a Valley soccer player had never scores six goals in a single match in the 21-year history of their middle school program – until this past Thursday night.

Center midfielder Angelica Crowe became the first as she tallied the six-pack in a 9-0 win over Saddle Ridge. Crowe scored in the fourth minute and added another goal in the 17th minute before knocking in four more goals in the second half.

Assists were recorded by Sydney Coats, Emma McGraw and Ria Cox. Cox also scored twice, finding the net in the eighth and 19th minutes, while Annabelle Casto added a goal 18 minutes into the second half.

Kilie Wilson and Anastasia Burkhart helped hold down the defensive midfield, while Meadow Duhm anchored things on the backline. Keeper Riley McBee came up with three saves.

Saddle Ridge boys 4, Chattanoog­a Valley 2

In the night’s other match, the Mustangs closed out NGAC regular season play by doubling up the Eagles.

Karson Ledford scored twice in the win. Kevin Kremb contribute­d an early goal and assisted on a Ledford strike, while Dylan Parker also added a goal. Lake Johnson came up with several nice saves in net.

“The defense played smart and aggressive the entire match,” Saddle Ridge head coach Ben Scoggins said. “It was a great team effort and win. I’m really proud of the way the guys are playing.”

Saddle Ridge girls 3, Trion 3

The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead less than 20 minutes into last Monday’s home game, but the Lady Bulldogs came all the way back to salvage a tie.

Bailey Myers opening the scoring for Saddle Ridge in the eighth minute. Mykeria Johnson knocked in a penalty kick in the 15th minute and Emma Fielding tacked on a third goal for the Lady Mustangs just four minutes later.

However, Trion would get on the board in the 22nd minute and two second-half goals would both be scored by the visitors as they escaped with the tie.

Trion boys 3, Saddle Ridge 2

In the night’s other match, the Mustangs were edged out by a single goal. Zach Jonjock knocked in the first goal for Saddle Ridge in the opening half and Kremb put away a second-half header to tie the match, 2-2. However, Trion would get the final tally of the day to seal the win.

Scoggins praised keeper Lake Johnson for his play in net, which included several saves.

Chattanoog­a Valley girls 2, Lakeview 2

The Lady Warriors and Lady Eagles finished in a deadlock as Coats and Cox found the net for CVMS.

Lakeview boys 7, Chattanoog­a Valley 0

The Warriors saw six different players scored in the road victory last Monday.

Chattanoog­a Valley girls 2, Rossville 0

The Lady Eagles claimed the Panther Cup at Ridgeland on Friday.

McGraw scored in the eighth minutes, while Cox scored the other goal, her 11th of the season.

Wilson, Annabelle Casto, and Anastasia Burkhart contribute­d

strong midfield play.

The Rossville boys won 5-3 in the nightcap, but no details were provided as of press time.

Heritage girls 5, LaFayette 0

Bailey Needham knocked home two goals as the Lady Generals improved to 11-0 on Monday.

Heritage boys 4, LaFayette 0

Bradley Cass found the net twice for the Generals, who picked up a road win.

The brackets for

the upcoming NGAC tournament were scheduled to be released on Monday, but due to newspaper deadlines were not able to be included this week’s edition.

The first round will be played on Friday with semifinals and finals next week at Heritage.
