Jewell Marie Headrick Grant, 86, Ringgold

Jewell Marie Headrick Grant, 86, of Ringgold, Georgia moved on to her Heavenly home Wednesday April 19, 2017.

She lived in East Brainerd, Tennessee for 40 years before moving back to Ringgold, Georgia in 1996.

She was a former employee of Miller Brothers and Towel and Linens.

She was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church where she attended the Agape Sunday School Class.

Jewell was the oldest of nine children. She loved family gatherings and was a devoted wife, mother and nanny. She was adored by her children, granddaugh­ters and great-grandchild­ren. She loved to garden and cook special meals for her family. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lola Fletcher Headrick; and brother, Johnny Headrick.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ross “R.C.” Grants of Ringgold, GA.; two children, Victor Grant and Melissa (Butch) Oliver both of Ringgold, GA.; two sisters, Rena Peters and Judy Adkins both of Ringgold, GA.; Harold Headrick of Cairo, W. Virginia, Richard (Carolyn) Headrick and Thurman (Billie) Headrick both of Ringgold, GA., Lamar Headrick of Cleveland, TN. And Donny (Helen) Headrick of Tunnel Hill, GA.; two granddaugh­ters, Ashley (Sean) Campos and Hannah (D) Winchester; two great grandchild­ren, Max Campos and Lola Grace Winchester, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 P.M. and Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday 22, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bruce Daugherty and Butch Oliver officiatin­g.

Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery.

Nina Marie Alford, 87, of Chattanoog­a went to be with her lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 19, 2017

She was a charter member of Gateway Baptist Church and was a talented musician and loved serving her lord through music and song.

She retired from Memorial Hospital as a L.P.N. Loved everybody and never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Elbert and Lonie Manning; husband and love of her life for 57 years, Frank Alford; son, Steven Wayne Alford; two sisters, Elsie Mealor and Mary Frances Brown; brother, Elbert Manning.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Alford, Treena Dobbins and special son-in-law, Tim Dobbins; two stepgrandc­hildren; several nieces and nephews; one special niece, Frances Chambers.

Family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday, April 23rd from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Denny Manning and Rev Jack Key officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in the Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Celeste Norris Florence, 93, Trion

Celeste Norris Florence, 93, Trion died April 18, 2017.

Celeste was born July 1, 1923 in Greenville S.C. She lived in Savannah, Cedartown, and Trion for 59 years.

She was the daughter of Harold and Pauline Norris.

She attended

Armstrong State College and graduated from Berry College.

Celeste was active in her family, friendship­s and community. She was a teacher at Third Street School in Cedartown, Ga., and Trion Elementary School. Trustee of the Chattooga Library, Chairman of the Trion Zoning board, member of the DAR, Who’s Who of American Women, Chattooga Historical Society, Atlanta Friendship Force, Elder Hostel, Red Hat Society, Wednesday Morning Bridge, and the Trion United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed traveling around the world with lifelong friends and relaxing at Lake Weiss with family and friends. She was a lifelong learner and always optimistic. Her long life and inspiring influence was a blessing to us all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Neal Florence.

She is survived by a brother, Lt. Col. James C. Norris and wife, Rachel Norris of Haughton, La. Two children, Neal Florence and wife, Carolyn Florence of LaFayette, Ga., and Nan Parker and husband, Breck Parker of LaFayette, Ga. Four grandchild­ren, Dr. Mason Florence and wife, Rachel of Watkinsvil­le, Ga., Dr. Kevin Florence and wife, Rachel of Watkinsvil­le, Ga., Amy Clifton and husband, Chad of Statesboro, Ga., and Dr. Reed Parker of Knoxville, TN. Eight great-grandchild­ren, Samuel, Caroline, Anna Florence, Luke and Kate Florence, Madalyn, Audrey, and Jake Clifton.

A heartfelt thank you to caregivers, Terra Turner, Shirley Bowers, Rosland Mosley, Tonie Autullo, and the wonderful staff at Oakview Health and Rehabilita­tion in Summervill­e, Ga.

Visitation will take place Saturday at the church from 3:30 p.m. until time of service.

Memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the LaFayette First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Autry officiatin­g.

Reverend Johnny Silas (Johnboy) Watson, Chatsworth

Reverend Johnny Silas (Johnboy) Watson was born August 1, 1954 in Chatsworth, Ga.

went home to be with his Savior April 15, 2017.

He was the next to the oldest of seven boys and three girls.

He attended Pond Springs

Elementary and Gordon Lee High School.

He was an active member of Kensington Church of God where he preached and sang. He was a past Sunday School Superinten­dent at Boynton Church of God. He also had a nursing home ministry until his current illness. He retired from Synthetic Industry after 30 years of loyal service. His greatest joy in life was his family and singing the praises of his Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Watson; maternal grandparen­ts, William and Bessie Massey; fraternal grandparen­ts, Carl and Minnie Watson and Myrtle Watson.

Survived by three sisters, James and Elaine Brock of LaFayette; Penny Spark of Trenton; Mike and Turk Lawson of High Point; six brothers, William Watson of Kensington, Tony and Robin Watson of Kensington, Daryl and Jerri Watson of Chickamaug­a, Thomas and Jillian Watson of Chattanoog­a, Terry and Sara Watson of Flintstone, Tim and Amy Watson of LaFayette; two daughters, Jimmy and Stacey Westbrook of Rossville; Darryl and Heather Cox of Soddy Daisy; seven grandchild­ren; four great grandchild­ren; and Cody Watson whom he raised and is also a grandson; many nieces and nephews; and last but not least his little sweetie Diane Wiley and her two boys Mikey and Bobby.

Visitation at the funeral home Monday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Funeral services Tuesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dennis Chambers officiatin­g.

Interment in LaFayette City Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s are William Watson, Bo Watson, Darryl Watson, Pogus Watson, Duck Watson, Tim Watson, Cody Watson, and Casey Bradley.

Sharon Louise DeSha, 69, of Rossville, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 in a local hospital.

Sharon was born on April 2, 1948 in Champaign, Illinois.

She attended the Jones Memorial Baptist Church, was the owner of Brown’s Corner Country Store, and she loved animals.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Joe Benson.

Survivors include her mother, Katherine Mobley Trotter; daughter, Frances DeSha; son, Jason Desha; brothers, Mike Benson, Joe (Debbie) Benson, & Robbie (Cheryl) Trotter; sisters, Gloria Duke and Monica “Rinky” (Jeff) Brown; two grandchild­ren, Nicole & Trevor DeSha; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.

Pauline “Polly” Gallaher Petty, 100, Rossville

Pauline “Polly” Gallaher Petty, 100, of Rossville, peacefully left her earthly body on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 while surrounded by family to be with her Lord and Savior.

Pauline was born on January 3, 1917 in Cleveland, Tennessee to John Franklin and Maggie Emaline McNabb Gallaher. In the mid to late 1920’s, Pauline’s family moved to Chattanoog­a. Her father was a house carpenter and Chattanoog­a was a growing town that offered him plenty of work. This is where Pauline and Franklin Grundy Petty “F.G.” or “Frank” met. He was working at the Green Tea Room as a waiter and while standing outside the restaurant with his cousin, Pauline and her best friend were walking by. The foursome struck up in conversati­on. Pauline and F.G. were smitten with one another and eventually married on November 4, 1933. They moved to Rossville after the war, where they remained for the rest of their lives together. F.
