The Ridgeland Lady Panthers closed out the 2017 soccer season with a 3-2 home win over Christian Heritage last Tuesday.

Madison Doty scored twice, included once on a penalty kick, while Courtney Durham knocked home the gamewinner.

Katie Davis peppered the Lady Lions’ keeper with five shots on goal, while Ridgeland senior keeper Morgan Crawford had six saves to get the win.

Aiyana Cummings and Whitney Boehm were praised for their efforts on defense and in the midfield.

The boys’ game was scoreless in the 21st minute when the game was delayed and later halted by lightning. The remainder of the game will not be made up.

“I’m very pleased with the steps we made this year,” head coach Tim Sparks said. “We fell short of making the playoffs, but we had some good wins this year and the guys should be proud of what they accomplished.

We will miss our four seniors. They provided leadership to this team and have given much to the Ridgeland soccer program. I continue to be excited about the development of this young team and hope to build on this year’s success.”
