MEETING · Commission­er Shannon Whitfield will give the 2017 State of the County Address at the Walker County Chamber’s April Membership Luncheon. Sponsored by CHI Memorial, and will take place from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at the Walker County Civic Center. Among the topics the Commission­er plans to address are: codes enforcemen­t, economic developmen­t projects and new quick response vehicles that will be placed at fire stations to respond to medical calls. Fees/ Admission: $15 for members, $20 for non-members or$115 corporate table (8 seats). Registrati­on will end on Sunday at midnight prior to the event, no walkins will be accepted. COMMUNITY · The Rossville Public Library’s board of trustees will meet at the library at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.

COMMUNITY · Every Tuesday, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., the Rossville Public Library offers Ready to READ programs for youngsters. The library is currently in a temporary facility at the Rossville Recreation Center ( 301 Williams St.) while its McFarland Avenue location is being renovated.

MEETING · Walker County Democrats will hold their monthly meeting at the Dari Dip Restaurant, 302 W. Villanow Street in LaFayette, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 27. Early arrivers may order dinner. Workshop content will start by 6 p.m. when Wendy Davis, a grass roots organizer and city council member from Rome, delivers a program titled “How to run for public office and win.” No preregistr­ation necessary.
