Kenneth Leroy Whaley Sr., 75, Rock Spring

Kenneth Leroy Whaley, Sr, of Rock Spring, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was 75.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowlan Whaley and Jennie Bird Whaley.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 51 years, Mary W. Whaley of Rock Spring; son, Le (Gina) Whaley of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Kenny Whaley, Kay Whaley, Kevin Whaley, Kerri Whaley and Gabrielle Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 p.m. until time of service.

Celebratio­n of Life service: Thursday, May 4 at 6 p.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lowell Cantrell officiatin­g.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributi­ons be sent to March of Dimes at 1101 Kermit Drive, Ste. 201, Nashville, Tenn. 37214.

Mitchell “Mitch” Eugene Spicer, 71 Rock Spring

Mitchell “Mitch” Eugene Spicer, age 71 of Rock Spring, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was 71.

He was a member of New Haven Mechanics. Mitch owned and operated Spicer Automotive in Rock Spring which he opened in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Cagle; parents, William Spicer and Irene Miller Spicer; sister, Patsy Kilgore and brother, Roy Lee Spicer.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 46 years, Janice Cochran Spicer of Rock Spring; son, Chris Spicer (Bobbie Idell) of Rossville; sonin-law, Jeff (Debbie) Cagle of Rock Spring; grandchild­ren, Zach (Miranda) Nashelle, Nate, Christy and Dan; great-grandchild­ren, Addison and Hevan and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Funeral service: from the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel Wednesday, May 3 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Luke Williams officiatin­g.

Burial: Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s: Dr. Jack Price, Tommy Cole, Brandon McDonald, Samuel Wysong, Mickey Tumlin, and Kolton Broome.

Helene Crowley, 83, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Helene Crowley, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home in Rossville, Ga. She was 83.

Mrs. Crowley was a native of Ansbach, Germany, and that is where she met her beloved husband, the late Timothy E. Crowley, while serving in the United States Army. Following their marriage, Mr. Crowley was stationed in several European Countries and their final duty station was in Alabama in the 1960’s. Upon retirement from the military they moved to New Smyrna Beach where she lived most of her adult life.

Mrs. Crowley was a loving caregiver, volunteere­d with the Seniors of New Smyrna Beach and really enjoyed playing bingo. Her greatest passion was loving, nurturing, and taking care of children.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Walter Crowley.

Survivors include: Her children, Michael (Nancy) Crowley, Monroe, Mich., Linda (Michael) Sarlo, Edgewater, Fla. and Donald (Frances) Crowley, Chickamaug­a, Ga.; brother, Albert (Rosie) Knollmeyer of Germany; 10 grandchild­ren, several great-grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews.

The family will hold private services at a later date.

Mary “Ginger” Barbee, 57, Summervill­e

Mary “Ginger” Barbee, of Summervill­e, Ga., passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was 57.

Survivors include: mother, Shelly (Wallace) Reynolds Brown of LaFayette; daughter, Paula (Paul) Oakley, of St. Marys, Ga.; son, Dean (Charity) Royal of Macon; sister, JoAnn Foskey of LaFayette; six grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebratio­n of life service: will be held in the funeral home chapel, Wednesday, May 3, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Henry Dixon officiatin­g.

Edna Hawkins Floyd, 88, Fort Oglethorpe

Edna Hawkins Floyd, of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., went home to be with her Lord Saturday, April 29, 2017, in a local health care facility. She was 88.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1929, to the late Henry H. and Melissa Pearl Ford Hawkins in Cullman County, Ala.

Mrs. Floyd was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church (Heritage Pointe) in Ringgold and retired from Sears-Roebuck in Chattanoog­a.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arthur G. Floyd; daughter, Phyllis Floyd Haynes; brother, James Hawkins and sisters, Elna Hawkins Grant and Anne Hawkins Palmer.

Survivors include: Her son, Timothy L.
