Mary Joyce Hoskins Williams, 87, East Ridge, Tenn.
Mary Joyce Hoskins Williams, of East Ridge, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 1, 2017, at Rosewood Assisted Living. She was 87.
Mrs. Williams was born on Oct. 23, 1929, in Rossville, Ga. She graduated from Rossville High School and later attended Tennessee Temple College.
She retired from First Federal Savings and Loans of Chattanooga after many years of service.
She was a Christian, having professed Christ as her savior at an early age. She was a member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
She was a lifelong member of the Allemande Hall where she loved squaredancing. Joyce loved traveling, and had traveled to every state expect Alaska. She also loved and cared for her terrier named “Josie.”
She volunteered for CHI Memorial in Chattanooga for many years and also served as a Big Sister with the Chattanooga Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization. Joyce and her husband had no children of their own but were instrumental in the lives of their many nieces, nephews, friends and neighborhood children.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 ½ years, James Clyde “Jake” Williams; her parents, Floyd and Annie Clark Hoskins; brother, Ray L. (Florence Anna) Hoskins; sisters, Evelyn (Hal Sr.) Wilson, Margaret (Rufus) Henry, Doris Hoskins Grice; niece, Linda Joy Porter; nephew, Stevie Lawson; life-long friends, J.W. and Virginia Dodd and their families.
Survivors include: Her nieces and nephews who brought lots of love to her life; Cathy and Steve Lawson, Anna (Tim) Horn, Hal Wilson Jr., O. Henry Porter; great-nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Tommy) Duffy, Mark Chambers, Amy Chambers, Ryan Horn, Hal (Denise) Wilson III, Elizabeth Wilson, Ellen (Don) Reeves, Julie (Mauricio) Santos; brother-in-law, Bobby Grice.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, at the South Crest Chapel.
Graveside service: will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Craig Westbrook officiating.

Janet Bonner Thomas, of East Ridge, Tenn., passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was 76.
Janet grew up in Chattanooga and graduated from Central High School.
She retired from a career in accounting and chose to enjoy her golden years in Chattanooga with family and friends.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Club and Young at Heart Club.
Janet loved line dancing at the East Ridge Senior Center and traveling to vacation destinations.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Thomas Bonner Sr. and Lewis Dean Thomas; and parents Earnest Hugh Price and Olean Willie Price McSpadden.
Survivors include: children Thomas (Kate) Bonner Jr. and Michael Bonner; granddaughter Lisa Bonner; brother Joe (Betty) Price; sister Joyce (Newell) Rogers; brother Jerry Price; cousin Rowena McPherson and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the service at the South Crest Chapel.
Memorial service: will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Craig Westbrook officiating.
Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.

John Potter Haley, 41 of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
He attended Frawley Road Baptist Church.
John was a member of the Chattanooga Lodge #199 F&AM, Past Master of Hixson Lodge #727 F&AM and a member of the York Rite Bodies.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John E. and Minnie Haley, L.K. and Iva Potter.
Survivors include: His parents, Charles and Dranda Haley; sisters, Donna Haley and Kathy Haley Adkins; brother, Ed (Rhonda) Haley; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Eve.
Memorial service: will be held Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at The American Legion
