COMMUNITY · The Boynton Lions Club of Ringgold and the Ringgold Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the Patriotic Summer Film at the Ringo Theater on Tuesday, July 11, at the Ringgold Depot. “The Monuments Men” starring George Clooney and an ensemble of stars begins at 7:15 p.m. Free tickets are provided at the door while they last. Donations to support the efforts of the Boynton Lions Club in Catoosa County are welcome. SCHOOLS ·The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit will host a Back-to-School Bash on July 22 at Barnhart Circle in Fort Oglethorpe. This event allows community partners to come together, educate families, share in some fun and in turn build relationsh­ips within the community. There will be games, bouncy houses, food, and vendors.

MEETING · Recovery At Ringgold is a Christ-centered, Biblically­based, non-denominati­onal recovery program that is designed to provide support for anyone who is struggling with compulsive issues or addictive behaviors. It is a “safe place,” which means no one will judge you or try to force their idea of “normal living” on you. COMMUNITY · The Family Crisis Center is seeking volunteers to play with children one night a week. You must be 18 years old and undergo a background check. This is a great opportunit­y to make a positive impact on these children and provide some much needed help and support to the family members caring for these kids. The Family Crisis Center of Walker, Dade, Catoosa, and Chattooga Counties helps families live abuse free and is supported in part through donations to the shelter and the thrift stores. COMMUNITY · An exhibit on mining in northwest Georgia is on display at the Welcome Center across from the Marsh House on N. Main Street, in LaFayette. Coal and iron ore mining provided many jobs in the 20th century in this area. Open to the general public Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
