Ray C. Henry, Mission, Texas
Ray C. Henry, a native of LaFayette, and a longtime resident of the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, passed away 28 June 2017, surrounded in love by his family in San Antonio.
He was born near LaFayette in Walker County, GA on 10 March 1929.
Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty J Henry, parents George Washington Henry, Jr. and Mattie Henry, his brothers Ed Henry, Chester Henry, Lee Henry, Bill Henry and Ralph Henry and his sister Ruth Henry.
He is survived by his children Ann Henry, Michael Henry (Sally), Wayne Henry, Lamarr Henry (Cheryl), Lisa Gonzalez and Cheryl Henry-Byas (Forrest) along with dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was well known throughout the Rio Grande Valley as one of the founders of, as well as the Vice President and General Manager of, the Valley Shamrock service station chain and a member of the Texas Oil Jobbers Association (TOJA) later renamed the Texas Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association (TPCA). He had also been an active member of the McAllen Greeters, Kiwanis Club and Civil Air Patrol and supported numerous charity activities including Sunny Glen Children’s Home and the Bandina Christian Youth Camp, Inc., commonly known as Camp Bandina near Bandera.

Aubrey Ray “Dick” Stoner, 74, Rossville
Aubrey Ray “Dick” Stoner, 74, of Rossville, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in a local hospital.
Dick was born on January 23, 1943 on Lookout Mountain to the late Jim & Sarah Stoner and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chattanooga Valley Ward. For many years, he was employed with Devoe Paint Store and was also a self-employed truck driver. Dick loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, boating, and auto mechanics. He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Stoner, brothers, Pete & Willie “Banjo” Stoner, and sister, Annie Mahaffey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Lynda Carter Stoner; brothers, Tom (Andrea) Stoner & Tilburn (Phyllis) Stoner, all of Rossville, and sister, Audrey (Joe) Murray of Lookout Mountain, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services: Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Elder Chad William Hopkins officiating.
Burial: Payne’s Chapel Cemetery, Lookout Mountain.

Bruce “Skip” Barnes, 57, of Ringgold
Bruce “Skip” Barnes, 57, of Ringgold went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith.
He loved music, Motorcycles, his family and his grandson. He was an avid Drag Racer and a member of the Brainerd Optimist Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Candy Barnes; father, Bruce Lee Barnes; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gail (Bill) May; Daughter, Danielle Barnes her fiancé, Shawn Noble; brother, Brian Barnes; sister, Vicky (Ronnie) Brindle; one grandson, Jarod Barnes; niece, Torie Farmer; nephew, John Farmer; and his dogs, Bama and Bella.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 5th from 4-8 P.M. and on Thursday up to the hour of service at the funeral home.

Eric Lee Boyd, 53, Flintstone
Eric Lee Boyd, 53 of Flintstone, Georgia after a long and valiant battle against lymphoma was called home by his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Sunday July 2, 2017. We rejoice in knowing that his pain and suffering has been replaced with joy and praise.
Eric was born on April 6, 1964 in Okinawa, Japan. Like most military children, Eric moved frequently. He lived in Memphis, TN, Norfolk, Va., and Brunswick, GA, before finally settling in Flintstone, Ga. He graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School in 1982. After a short time at Dalton Junior College, Eric decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and went to work for Astec Industries as a service technician. His career at Astec allowed him to see every state and many countries around the world. He was still employed there until his death.
Eric professed his faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 14 and was a member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church for over 30 years. During the last year of his life he attended Middle Valley Church of God under Pastor Mitch McClure.
Eric Boyd was a great man, father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, and cousin. He will forever be remembered for his infectious smile, his tremendous sense of humor, his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and a need for speed. Drag racing was more than a hobby to Eric, he loved it and excelled at it. He has been a track champion as well as an IHRA division champion.
Eric had a tremendous passion for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Lee and Sharon Elizabeth Boyd. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary Ellen, his four children Amanda Boyd, Drew Boyd, Brandi(Doug) Gravitt, and Ashley Richardson, one brother Stacy(Christina), nephew Brennan Boyd(Kaitlyn), nieces Melanie Carter(Adam) and Meredith Boyd, as well as eight grandchildren, Caleb, Braxton, Austin, Maddox, Caden, Ariona, Allani, and Averie.
Funeral services: 1:00 p.m. on Friday July 7, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel and will be presided by Pastor Mitch McClure.
Burial: TennesseeGeorgia Memorial Park.

Willene V. Thompson, age 85 of Rossville, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born to the late Horace lee and Verdie Lee McBee Collins and was of the Church of God Faith. Willene was a loving mother,
grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Thompson; son, Buddy Thompson; sister, Esther Burrow; and brothers, Albert McBee and Harold Collins
Willene is survived by her children, James Russell Thompson, Michael Anthony (Kay) Thompson, Debra Ann (Lebron) Newman, Janice Kay Taylor, and Mary L. (Randy) Pritchett; sisters, Juanita (Douglas) Walker and Glenda Harmon; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Jean (Hunt) Cooper, 89, East Ridge, Tenn.
Barbara Jean (Hunt) Cooper, 89, of East Ridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends after a long illness.
She was born in Chattanooga on May 31, 1928 to the late Raymond and Thelma Hunt and has resided in the East Ridge area for several years. She retired from Profits in Chattanooga and also with Pickett’s clothing in sales. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and the joy of raising her family. She is regarded by her children as the best mom in the whole world. Barbara enjoyed reading poetry, working cross word puzzles and going on rides through the Chickamauga Battlefield. She was a humble, loving person who will truly be missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two great-grandsons, Lucas Hunt Cooper and Isaac James Cooper.
Survivors include her daughters, Cassandra (Norman) Wiltberger and Melody (David) Cornelison, son, J. Hunt (Linda) Cooper, grandchildren, Johnathan (Sara) Cooper and Katharine Cooper, greatgrandchildren Lily Victoria, Layla Alexandria and Grace Elizabeth.

Susan Hideko Tucker Gabbard, 62, Hixson, Tenn.
Susan Hideko Tucker Gabbard, 62 of Hixson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was born in Fukuoka, Japan, but had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith. Susan was an avid Billiards Player and was the Owner & Operator of Knoxville Billiards and Susie Q’s in Fort Oglethorpe. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother and grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Edward Tucker.

Mary Louise McRae Chandler, 92
Mary Louise McRae Chandler passed away peacefully at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Monday, July 3, 2017 at the age of 92.
A lifetime member of Harrisburg Nazarene Church, Louise was very active in the church, doing whatever was needed. She was known for her beautiful voice and sang in the choir as well as performed in various groups until she was in her 90’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Eugene “Gene” Chandler; parents, Oscar Lee McRae and Mattie McSpadden McRae; siblings, Hobson McRae, Nell McRae Howard, George McRae, Max McRae, Joyce McRae Avans, John L. McRae, Linda McRae (White), and Dot Wrape.
Survived by her daughter, Mary Jane (Bill) Lumpkin; sons, Nelson (Lisa) Chandler and Jim Chandler; grandchildren, Beth Lumpkin Lawrence and husband Joel, Allison Lumpkin Chesnutt and husband Bobby, Jacob (Ali) Chandler; great grandchildren, Sean and Sophie Lawrence, and Laney and Sam (Samantha) Chesnutt; sisters, Mattie Lou McRae Howard and Sue McRae Sosebee; and many nieces and nephews.
