State Road and Tollway Authority earns Excellence Award Recognized for customer service and marketing outreach
The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) on July 25 announced that the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) has been awarded a 2017 Toll Excellence Award for Customer Service and Marketing Outreach for its Toll Credits pilot program.
The 2017 IBTTA Toll Excellence Award Winners are revolutionizing mobility for drivers from Georgia to Dubai by implementing cutting-edge solutions to 21st century transportation challenges.
The annual awards presented by IBTTA, recognize innovative strategies to help ease traffic flow, relieve congestion and increase safety for the global driving public. The awards are presented in the following categories: Administration and Finance; Customer Service and Marketing; Social Responsibility; Technology; Toll Operations, Engineering and Maintenance; and Private Sector Innovation.
“As a growing state, we are experiencing more cars than ever on Georgia’s busy highways,” said Chris Tomlinson, Executive Director of the State Road and Tollway Authority. “SRTA wanted a way to encourage commuters to explore alternatives to driving along during the most congested travel periods and the Commuter Credits pilot program provided our customers the positive incentive they needed to experience the benefits of alternative commuting, such as transit and still get to reap the benefits of Georgia’s tolled express lanes. As a result of the success of the pilot program, SRTA plans to continue the efforts as a broader program in conjunction with the opening of the Northwest Corridor tolled Express Lanes in 2018. Our team is proud of the program, and we are grateful to IBTTA for recognizing our efforts with the Toll Excellence Award.”
As Georgia’s population and economy grow, state leaders and transportation professionals continue to look to innovative strategies and are fully embracing tolling as a means to provide effective reliable mobility options. The state opened its first reversible managed lanes in 2017 and is on track to add more than 60 centerline miles of additional tolled express lanes throughout Atlanta over the next 18 months. Additionally, through the Major Mobility Investment Program, Georgia is on track have four additional tolling projects open or under construction in the next decade which will add more miles of new, managed lanes to metro Atlanta’s interstate network.
“Whether you are driving in Georgia or Dubai, the goals of providing customers with greater mobility and safety remain the same,” said Emanuela Stocchi, President, IBTTA. “The State Road and Tollway Authority, and the other award winners are implementing solutions to complex, global transportation challenges.”
