Rossville volleyball­ers bested by Catoosa foes

The Rossville Lady Bulldogs put up a fight last Tuesday, but lost a road match at Ringgold by scores of 27-25 and 25-14.

Eric Culberson had two aces and a kill for the Lady Bulldogs. Elliana Rodriguez had three aces and a kill, followed by Ivey Stargel with two aces. Elizabeth Bagley added three kills and two aces, while Brylee Benson picked up a kill.

In the JV match, Rossville fell by scores of 25-11 and 25-14.

Ashlyn Alexander paced the Rossville offense with four kills, while Bryanna Galindo and Reece Waits each had a kill and an ace. Rylee Waits and Kacie Poarch both had an ace.

Rossville gave another valiant effort at home this past Thursday, but came up short against NGAC rival Lakeview, 25-19 and 27-25.

Rossville (1-5) trailed by seven points in the second set when Benson went to the service line. Benson reeled off 13 straight service points - three via aces - to put her team in the lead by six. However, they were unable to hang on the lead as Lakeview came roaring back to close out the match.

Culberson, Rodriguez and Autumn Goins each had two kills for the Lady Bulldogs, while Benson, Stargel, Meredith Shevlin and McKensie Miller added one kill apiece. Culberson, Rodriguez and Miller all had one ace each. Rodriguez recorded a dig, while libero BreeAnna Ledford had seven digs and an ace

In the JV match, Rossville would fall by scores of 25-22 and 25-13.

Allie McElroy had two kills and three digs. Alexander finished with a kill, two aces and six digs. Reece Waits had two aces and a dig. Sarah Graham picked up a kill and a dig. Galindo served up an ace, while Rylee Waits and Jessica Ramos each recorded a kill.

Rossville will be back in action Thursday at home against Heritage. The JV match will be played at 4:30 p.m.

Individual statistics for the Lady Warriors (1-4) were not provided as of press time.

Lakeview will host Chattanoog­a Valley on Tuesday, starting with varsity action at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday, they will travel to Gordon Lee for a 4:30 varsity start.
