LFO earns home sweep

Last Tuesday was a successful evening for the LFO Lady Warriors volleyball squad, who picked up subregion wins over North Murray and Murray County in Fort Oglethorpe.

LFO opened with a 27-25, 25-13 victory over the Lady Mountainee­rs, thanks in part to 17 aces. Alexis Abraham accounted for six of them, followed Madi Graham with five. Aleysa McBurnett had three aces to go with three kills, while Macey Gregg collected three aces, six kills, three digs and a pair of blocks.

Jerriale Jackson, Symerel Bennett and Miyah Foster each had two kills. Jackson added two blocks and Foster collected four assists.

In the nightcap,

LFO came back from 12-8 down in the first set to win 25-21 before closing it out with a 2513 victory in the second set. Graham gave the Lady Warriors control in the closing set with 10 straight service points, including six by ace. She ended the match with eight total aces.

Gregg recorded five aces, five blocks, four kills and three digs. Bennett added three aces, three blocks and two kills. Jackson picked up four blocks and two kills, while McBurnett added two kills, two blocks and an ace. Other contributo­rs included Abraham with three aces and Foster with two kills.

However, the excitement was tempered two nights later as the Red-andWhite suffered a sweep

at Ridgeland.

LFO lost to the Lady Panthers 26-24 and 25-11, before losing to Lookout Valley, 25-14 and 25-12.

Gregg had six kills, three assists and a dig for LFO against Ridgeland. Bennett finished with four kills, while Graham served up two aces and added a pair of digs.

Gregg had three kills, two assists and an ace, while Graham picked up two assists, one ace, one kill and one dig. Jackson recorded two blocks, a kill and an assist, while McBurnett had two digs, a kill, a block and an assist.

The Lady Warriors (7-15) will join Cedartown and Ringgold for a quadmatch at Chattooga on Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.

They will close out the week on Saturday at a tournament at Coahulla Creek High School.
