Middle School Football Roundup: Eagles corral Mustangs, Tigers run past Warriors

The Chattanoog­a Valley Eagles opened their 2017 football season this past Thursday with a 38-0 home win over Saddle Ridge.

Ashton Turner, Jakobe Turner and Dillon Shropshire were offensive standouts for the Maroon-and-White, while Lamarcus Bailey and Jonathan Woodall shined on defense.

In the junior varsity game, CVMS claimed a 30-0 victory.

Jordan Montgomery and Austin Acuff were standouts on offense for the Eagles, while Elijah Eaker and Carson Middleton came up big on defense.

Chattanoog­a Valley (1-0) will play at LaFayette this Thursday, while Saddle Ridge (0-2) will host Trion that same day.

Ringgold 40, Lakeview 12

The Tigers got off to a 1-0 start on the season by beating their Catoosa County rivals in a game that was pushed back last Wednesday.

Corey Dumas had four carries for 63 yards and two receptions for 92 yards for the Blue-and-White. Malachi Hill had six carries for 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Kyle White added 73 yards on the ground and scored four 2-point conversion­s.

Chase Rizzo had two rushing touchdowns for the Warriors (0-2).

Ringgold will host Heritage on Thursday, while Lakeview will be at Gordon Lee.

Gordon Lee-Trion rained out

The game between the Trojans and Bulldogs was postponed and was scheduled to be made up on Tuesday (Sept. 5) at Trion, starting at 5 p.m. Gordon Lee (0-0) will host Lakeview this Thursday in a regularly schedule game at 4:30.

LaFayette-Dade County postponed

The Ramblers’ game in Trenton was also postponed due to poor field conditions. It will be made up on Oct. 2 at Dade County.

LaFayette (1-0) will play host to Chattanoog­a Valley this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
