Middle School Softball: Chatt. Valley blanks Lakeview

The Chattanoog­a Valley Middle School Lady Eagles moved to 9-2 on the season with an 11-0 pounding of Lakeview on Friday night.

The first three CVMS hitters reached base for Cordasia Watkins, who cleared the sacks with the first of her two triples in the game. Watkins finished 3-for-3 and drove in five runs.

Jenna Morgan was also 3-for-3 and scored three times, while Madison Bowman belted a solo homer in the top of the third inning. Bowman threw all five innings and fanned seven to the get the victory.

Grace Wright, Julie Shore and Heidi Johnson all had hits for the Lady Warriors, who dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in NGAC play.

Trion 5, Gordon Lee 1

The Lady Trojans suffered a home loss at the hands of Trion on Thursday. Gordon Lee managed just six hits and committed four errors in the field.

Star Alexander and Asia Lanham both went 2-for-4 with Lanham recording a double. Emma Langston and Emma Phillips were both 1-for-3.

The Lady Trojans are now 1-1 in NGAC play.

Westside 4, Ringgold 3

For the second time in the past three weeks, the Ringgold Lady Tigers lost a close game to Westside at Jack Mattox Park.

On Aug. 26, Westside won 5-4 after three extra innings in the final of the Jessie Raines Memorial Tournament and on Friday, they headed back to Whitfield County with a narrow 4-3 win.

Taylor Layne pitched a complete game in defeat for Ringgold, while Baileigh Pitts had two hits and drove in all three runs for the Lady Tigers.
