Gordon Lee sweeps Ringgold, Coahulla Creek in tri-match

The Gordon Lee Trojans got tested this past Thursday night, but passed with a sweep of Ringgold and Coahulla Creek in Chickamaug­a.

Gordon Lee (22-8) began the night with a narrow 25-23, 25-23 victory over the Lady Colts before squaring off with the Lady Tigers in the nightcap.

Ringgold won the opening set, 25-20, but the Lady Trojans sent the match to a third-set tiebreaker with a 25-15 victory in the second set. Gordon Lee led 1615 in the third and final set when Gracie O’Neal served up an ace at match point.

O’Neal finished with 14 kills and 15 digs on the night. Aubree Yancey had 15 kills and seven blocks. Delaney Bridges collected 12 kills, while Summer Fitzpatric­k added 10 kills and served up five aces.

Ringgold (16-12) picked up a win with a 25-21, 25-8 decision over Coahulla Creek.

Ricky Lynn Bickley had six kills and five digs in the win. Chloe Hall had 14 digs to go with a kill and an ace, while Zoie Metcalf dished out 13 assists, six digs, four aces and a kill.

Lauren Terrell added four kills, six digs, an ace and an assist. Bethany Thomason had three kills, three aces and two digs. Emily Ridley picked up three digs and Jasley Brooks finished with one kill.

Against Gordon Lee, Thomason had a teamhigh seven kills and a pair of digs. Bickley added six kills and 18 total digs. Metcalf had a big match with 17 assists, nine digs, five kills and three aces, while Hall had six digs, a kill and an ace.

Other contributo­rs included Brooks (4 kills, 1 dig), Terrell (6 digs, 1 assist, 1 ace) and Ridley (9 digs, 1 ace).
