The Heritage Generals got another seven strong innings from senior pitcher Taelyn Bates as they shutdown the Gilmer Lady Bobcats, 9-1, in Ellijay this past Thursday night.

Heritage (3-3 in Region 6-AAAA play) scored twice in the top of the third and added solo runs in the fourth and fifth before blowing things wide open with a five-spot in the top of the seventh. Gilmer’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth.

Kaylie Frogge went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Rachel Gibson had two hits, including a homer, scored twice and knocked in two runs. Katie Proctor was 2-for3 with an RBI. Ansley Bice had just one hit, but collected two RBIs. Ashley Faulkenberry had one RBI, while Mallory Lowe tripled in a run.

Bates threw a complete game, allowing four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The run she allowed was earned.

The Generals defeated Marist (4-1) and Georgia Military College Prep (6-2) on Friday. They lost to topranked and unbeaten Rockmart (Class AA), 13-6, on Saturday, but no score was reported for their game against North Murray.
