Middle School Softball: Gordon Lee, CVMS get shutout victories

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans got a one-hitter from Emma Langston in an 8-0 decision over LaFayette on Thursday. Langston also paced the offense with three hits, including two doubles.

Mila Smith had a double as one of her two hits, while Asia Lanham, Macie Sharp and Anniston Hudson each had one hit.

Su’Andra Williams broke up the no-hit bid with a solid single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth.

LaFayette threatened to score as Kayli Ballard layed down a sacrifice bunt to move Williams to second. Skylar Eaton delivered another sac bunt to move Williams to third, but she was thrown out to end the game.

Heather Tucker pitched solidly for the Lady Ramblers in defeat, while Eaton came up with two big outfield catches.

Chattanoog­a Valley 15, LaFayette 0

The Lady Eagles got 10 strikeouts and three RBIs from Madison Bowman as they beat LaFayette, 150, Friday afternoon in south Walker County.

Bowman was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Cordasia Watkins had two hits and knocked in five runs. Jenna Morgan went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases and Maggie Dickson was 1-for-1, but reached base in all four plate appearance­s.

CVMS is now 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.

No further details on the Lady Ramblers were available as of press time.

Trion 12, Rossville 0

The Lady Bulldogs fell to the other Lady Bulldogs on Thursday, despite five strong innings in the circle from pitcher Breanna Goldsmith.
