Middle School Football: Eagles run past Warriors

The Chattanoog­a Valley Eagles won their second straight game on Thursday, opening up a 30-6 halftime lead before coasting to a 30-14 victory over Lakeview in Flintstone.

Dillon Shropshire had two scores on the night, one rushing and one receiving, while Jakobe Turner also caught a touchdown pass. Both TD passes came from quarterbac­k Amarreon Turner, while tailback Ashton Turner rushed for another score.

Amarreon Turner had an intercepti­on and broke up three passes. Jacob Klein had a strip sack and a fumble recovery from his defensive tackle spot, while Lamarcus Bailey and Johnathan Woodall would among the team leaders in tackles.

CVMS (3-1) will play at Dade County this Thursday.

Ringgold 40, Saddle Ridge 0

The Tigers built a 16-0 lead after one quarter and went on to a shutout win over the Mustangs in Rock Spring on Thursday.

No further details were provided as of press time.

Ringgold (4-0) will host Trion on Thursday, while Saddle Ridge (0-5) will travel to LaFayette.

Heritage 22, LaFayette 20

Heritage won its second straight game with a 22-20 win this past Thursday at previously-unbeaten LaFayette.

Marcus Hagler scored on the Generals’ opening drive, taking it in from four yards out. A successful conversion gave Heritage an 8-0 lead. LaFayette countered with a drive and a 22-yard TD run by Trey Taylor, but the conversion attempt failed.

The Ramblers caught a break when Cade Fisher recovered a Heritage fumble at the LaFayette 18-yard line. LaFayette would convert the turnover into points as Jaylon Ramsey capped the drive with a fouryard run. A missed conversion kept the score at 12-8 in favor the hosts.

But not for long as Jacob Lozano returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for another Heritage touchdown,

while a two-point conversion but the Navy-and-Red back in front, 16-12.

Hagler would score again in the fourth quarter, finding the endzone from 11 yards out, but a missed conversion would keep their lead at 22-12. LaFayette answered with another score on a Fisher-to-Ramsey three-yard pass. The conversion pulled the Ramblers within two, but the home team would not score again..

Heritage (2-2) will host Lakeview on Thursday, while LaFayette (3-1) will welcome Saddle Ridge for Homecoming.

Trion 6, Gordon Lee 0

The Trojans lost to Trion last Monday night during a make-up game.

Kade Cowan led the defense with eight tackles for the Trojans. Hunter Stephens finished with five tackles, while Brodie Genter and Zane Blaylock each had four stops. Blaylock threw for 17 yards, 14 of them to Penn Askew.
