The 2017 season came to an abrupt end for the Ringgold Lady Tigers last week one win shy of the Class AAA state tournament.

Ringgold split the first two games in the their bestof-three series at Bremen in opening round the Region 6-AAA tournament last Tuesday, but were beaten by the Lady Devils in Game 3 on Wednesday.

With the loss, Ringgold’s season ended with an 11-15 overall record.

The Lady Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning in the opener, but the Lady Tigers got a solo run in the top of the second before taking the lead with two runs in the third. Both teams tacked on solo runs in the sixth.

Ringgold pounded out 11 hits in the game, including two each by Kaylee Womack, Bailey Farrow and Gracie Morrison. Womack and Morrison each picked up one RBI. Carolyn Hemphill doubled. Riley Nayadley also had an RBI, as did Shelby Cole, who got hers on a solo homer.

In the nightcap, Bremen - playing as the visiting team - led 6-0 going into the bottom of the fifth when Ringgold struck for four runs to get back in the game. However, the Lady Devils scored twice in the top of the seventh to give themselves some breathing room.

Cole had a three-run homer in the four-run fifth inning. Farrow went 2-for-4, while Phillips and Brooklyn Keith added a double. Phillips took the loss, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
