LFO spikers prep for area tournament

The LFO Warriors traveled to top-ranked Coosa (Class AA) last Tuesday and came back home with a split of a tri-match.

The Red-and-White suffered a 25-8, 25-14 loss to the Lady Eagles. Macey Gregg had three kills, an ace and six serve receives in the loss, while Miyah Foster had three kills, nine serve receives and a block. Symerel Bennett added two kills, two blocks and an assist with Alexis Abraham receiving six serves.

LFO rebounded in their next match with a 25-15, 25-23 win over Rockmart. Foster had four aces, two kills, six serve receives and two assists, while Gracen Hobbs had four aces, a kill and six serve receives.

Gregg had 10 serve receives, three kills, three assists and an ace. Abraham received seven serves and added an ace. Bennett had three kills, a block, an ace and an assist, while Savanna Cardwell had a pair of aces and six serve receives.

LFO pushed both Murray County and Gordon Lee to three sets on Thursday, but they ultimately lost both matches at home.

Murray County claimed the match, 25-15, 19-25 and 26-24. Gregg had eight kills, 15 serve receives, three aces, five assists and two

victories in the final two sets.

Anna Schorle led the offense with four kills. Kayleigh Goff and Jamese Miller had three kills apiece

in the loss. Goff also added two blocks, while Miller picked up one. Mia Clark had two kills, four assists and a block, while Tori Hall came up with a kill.

Results of the Lady Bobcats’ return match with Bryan, scheduled for Monday in Dayton, Tenn., were not

available as of press time.

Georgia Northweste­rn will play at Welch College in Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday (1 p.m.) before returning home on Monday, Oct. 9 to host the Covenant College JV squad at the R.A.C.
