Middle School Football Roundup: Chatt. Valley clinches playoff berth
The Chattanooga Valley Eagles sewed up a playoff spot out of the NGAC West Division with a 26-8 win at Dade County this past Thursday.
Johnathan Woodall, Amarreon Turner and Jacob Klein had big nights defensively for the Eagles. Klein had five solo tackles for a loss, Turner came up with a big interception and Woodall had three tackles for loss, including a sack.
Offensively, Dillon Shropshire and Jakobe Turner combined for four touchdowns on the night.
CVMS (4-1) will play next Thursday at Rossville (4:30 p.m.) in a game that will determine their seeding for the NGAC playoffs.
Rossville 30, Gordon Lee 0
The Bulldogs are now 5-0 after a shutout win over Gordon Lee on Thursday.
Gordon Casteel rushed 15 times for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns, while Ellijah Langston had a 48-yard interception return for a score.
For the Trojans (1-4), Kade Cowan had four tackles, while Bo Rhudy and Hunter Stephens each had three.
Rossville will host Chattanooga Valley this Thursday, while Gordon Lee will travel to Saddle Ridge that same day.
Ringgold 42, Trion 0
The Tigers moved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the NGAC’s East Division with a win over Trion on Thursday.
Malachi Hill scored on runs of 12 and 61 yards. Mason Parker had touchdown runs of 5 and 53 yards, while Kyle White scored on a 60-yard run and converted a pair of 2-point tries. Kori Dumas added a 25-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion.
Robbie Bates, Ashton Clark, Logan Goldsmith, Jordan Wideman and Jackson Lyons anchored the defensive effort.
Ringgold will host LaFayette this coming Thursday.
Heritage 24, Lakeview 0
The Generals improved to 3-2 on the season with a win over Lakeview on Thursday.

Heritage will play at Trion on Tuesday, Oct. 3, while Lakeview (0-6) will conclude its season at home against Dade County on Thursday, Oct. 5.
