Mid­dle School Soft­ball Roundup: Gor­don Lee heat­ing up as NGAC tour­na­ment nears

The Gor­don Lee Lady Tro­jans got an­other out­stand­ing pitch­ing per­for­mance from Emma Langston in a 9-0 home win over Sad­dle Ridge last Mon­day.

Langston had just one hit and struck out 11 in the win. Emma McGraw and Abby Jack­son were both 2-for3 with a dou­ble, while Langston and Al­lie Far­row were both 1-for3. Gor­don Lee put the game away early with a six-run first in­ning.

Lexi Baker broke up the no-hit bid with a fourth-in­ning sin­gle. Abby Sans­ing took the loss in the cir­cle for the Lady Mus­tangs. She fin­ished with three strike­outs.

Gor­don Lee 1, West­side 0

The Navy-and-White pulled out a thrilling vic­tory over Whit­field County power West­side on the road last Tuesday night in a non-league game.

Langston fanned an­other dozen hit­ters and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a dou­ble. Jack­son was 1-for-3 with a dou­ble, while An­nis­ton Hudson was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Chat­tanooga Val­ley 9, Rossville 0

The Lady Ea­gles belted a pair of home runs in the top of the first in­ning en route to a big win at Rossville last Tuesday.

Jenna Mor­gan led off the game with a home run and Cor­da­sia Watkins added a three­run shot later in the frame.

Mor­gan later added a dou­ble and a triple, while Watkins also had a pair of dou­bles. Madi­son Bow­man struck out nine in the fivein­ning game.

BreeAnna Gold­smith took the loss in the cir­cle for the Lady Bull­dogs.

Her­itage 6, Ring­gold 5

The Lady Tigers scored five times in the top of the sixth in­ning to take the lead last Tuesday, but they couldn’t hold on to it as the Lady Gen­er­als tied things up in the sev­enth be­fore claim­ing a win in the eighth.

A Baileigh Pitts two-run homer put Ring­gold ahead in the sixth, but Ri­ley Kokinda de­liv­ered the ga­me­ty­ing RBI in the bot­tom of the sev­enth be­fore the Lady Gen­er­als won the game an in­ning later.

Kokinda went 3-for4 with two RBIs, while Made­line Stone fin­ished 3-for-5.

Tay­lor Layne had a two-RBI dou­ble for Ring­gold. Ri­ley Heard scored a run, while Zoey DeFoor added an RBI.

Sad­dle Ridge 12, LaFayette 0

The Mus­tangs erupted for a dozen runs in the bot­tom of the third in­ning this past Thurs­day and cel­e­brated 8th Grade Night with a shutout vic­tory over the Lady Ram­blers in a game played at LaFayette High School.

Sans­ing struck out three bat­ters to get the win in the cir­cle, while Madi­son Sise­more led the of­fen­sive charge by go­ing 2-for-3 with an in­side-the-park grand slam and six RBIs. Sans­ing dou­bled and drove in two.

Haynie Gil­strap had a hit and two RBIs. Fan­tasja Bar­ber scored twice and picked up an RBI. Sum­mer Bur­kett and Carly Spur­lock both had hits, while Bur­kett crossed the plate twice. Baker, Myk­e­ria John­son, Abby Gaoa and Kristin Bethune scored one time each.

In­di­vid­ual statis­tics for LaFayette were not pro­vided as of press time.

Gor­don Lee 10, Lake­view 1

The bats came alive for the Lady Tro­jans this past Thurs­day as they pounded out 14 hits in a win over Lake­view.

Star Alexan­der was 3-for-3 with a dou­ble and also drew a walk. Hudson was 2-for-3 with a dou­ble and also got the win in the cir­cle, strik­ing out seven.

Jack­son, Langston, Macy Sharp and Mila Smith were all 2-for-3.

Gor­don Lee will face Ring­gold on Tuesday in the reg­u­lar sea­son fi­nale.
