Middle School Softball Roundup: Gordon Lee heating up as NGAC tournament nears

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans got another outstandin­g pitching performanc­e from Emma Langston in a 9-0 home win over Saddle Ridge last Monday.

Langston had just one hit and struck out 11 in the win. Emma McGraw and Abby Jackson were both 2-for3 with a double, while Langston and Allie Farrow were both 1-for3. Gordon Lee put the game away early with a six-run first inning.

Lexi Baker broke up the no-hit bid with a fourth-inning single. Abby Sansing took the loss in the circle for the Lady Mustangs. She finished with three strikeouts.

Gordon Lee 1, Westside 0

The Navy-and-White pulled out a thrilling victory over Whitfield County power Westside on the road last Tuesday night in a non-league game.

Langston fanned another dozen hitters and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Jackson was 1-for-3 with a double, while Anniston Hudson was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Chattanoog­a Valley 9, Rossville 0

The Lady Eagles belted a pair of home runs in the top of the first inning en route to a big win at Rossville last Tuesday.

Jenna Morgan led off the game with a home run and Cordasia Watkins added a threerun shot later in the frame.

Morgan later added a double and a triple, while Watkins also had a pair of doubles. Madison Bowman struck out nine in the fiveinning game.

BreeAnna Goldsmith took the loss in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs.

Heritage 6, Ringgold 5

The Lady Tigers scored five times in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead last Tuesday, but they couldn’t hold on to it as the Lady Generals tied things up in the seventh before claiming a win in the eighth.

A Baileigh Pitts two-run homer put Ringgold ahead in the sixth, but Riley Kokinda delivered the gametying RBI in the bottom of the seventh before the Lady Generals won the game an inning later.

Kokinda went 3-for4 with two RBIs, while Madeline Stone finished 3-for-5.

Taylor Layne had a two-RBI double for Ringgold. Riley Heard scored a run, while Zoey DeFoor added an RBI.

Saddle Ridge 12, LaFayette 0

The Mustangs erupted for a dozen runs in the bottom of the third inning this past Thursday and celebrated 8th Grade Night with a shutout victory over the Lady Ramblers in a game played at LaFayette High School.

Sansing struck out three batters to get the win in the circle, while Madison Sisemore led the offensive charge by going 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park grand slam and six RBIs. Sansing doubled and drove in two.

Haynie Gilstrap had a hit and two RBIs. Fantasja Barber scored twice and picked up an RBI. Summer Burkett and Carly Spurlock both had hits, while Burkett crossed the plate twice. Baker, Mykeria Johnson, Abby Gaoa and Kristin Bethune scored one time each.

Individual statistics for LaFayette were not provided as of press time.

Gordon Lee 10, Lakeview 1

The bats came alive for the Lady Trojans this past Thursday as they pounded out 14 hits in a win over Lakeview.

Star Alexander was 3-for-3 with a double and also drew a walk. Hudson was 2-for-3 with a double and also got the win in the circle, striking out seven.

Jackson, Langston, Macy Sharp and Mila Smith were all 2-for-3.

Gordon Lee will face Ringgold on Tuesday in the regular season finale.
