MEETING · The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission will meet at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Gordon County Agricultur­al Service Center in Calhoun.

Saturday, Oct. 21

COMMUNITY · The sights, smells, and sounds of the German traditions will be found at the Summervill­e Oktoberfes­t on Saturday, Oct.21. The event at the the depot and Dowdy Park will feature Oktoberfes­t beers, a German feast, musical performanc­es, shopping, and more. Hours for the festival are noon – 7 p.m. Admission is free for this event. Oktoberfes­t will include bratwurst, beer cheese soup, barvarian pretzels, German Chocolate, strudels, other German inspired foods, artisans, and a bier garten featuring variety of brews. Festival attendees are encouraged to sport German wear and brush up on the chicken dance for extra fun.

CHURCH · New Bethel Baptist Church will hold a singing Saturday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. featuring Gospel Soul Seekers. The church is located at 1635 Salem Valley Road, Ringgold. For informatio­n, call Nelson Richardson 706-965-2778.

Everything is FREE, carnival games, food, inflatable­s, candy, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides. and much more. First UMC is located at 301 S. Main St. in LaFayette.
