Walker and Dade counties awarded GDOT contracts
State Sen. Jeff Mullis, a Republican from Chickamauga, recently announced that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded three project contracts to Walker and Dade counties. The three projects are part of the more than $112 million awarded to transportation projects statewide.
“I commend GDOT and our local leaders for coming together to bring these important infrastructure projects to Dade and Walker Counties,” Mullis said. “All three of these projects are important to improving safety for our commuters. I look forward to working with GDOT on additional projects being awarded not only to Dade and Walker counties, but to our entire local community.”
One of the projects for Walker County totals at $988,388 and will address about a mile of construction of a bridge and approaches on Old Lee School Road (County Road 58) over Dry Creek. GDOT anticipates the project will be completed by Sept. 30, 2019.
The second project awarded to Walker County totals $5,390,658. The project will be completed by March 31, 2019, and will address 11.52 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on Ga. Highway 1 from south of Grant Street to the Catoosa County line.
Dade County will receive $4,525,215 for bridge rehabilitation at various locations on Dugan Loop (County Road 178), Dews Pong Road (County Road 373) and Ga. Highway 52 (Walnut Avenue). The anticipated completion date for the project is April 30, 2021.
