Middle School Girls’ Basketball: Heritage continues impressive season

The Lady Generals stayed unbeaten in NGAC play by avoiding an upset bid by the visiting Gordon Lee Lady Trojans this past Tuesday. Heritage led 12-6 at halftime, but used a 10-0 run over the first 2:30 of the third quarter to help secure a 32-25 victory.

Dayonna Perryman had 16 points for Heritage. Macie Collins finished with eight points, while Lauren Mock and Aaliyah Rodgers had four points each.

Kaitlyn Wagoner had a teamhigh eight points for the Lady Trojans, followed by Emma Phillips with seven and Dallas Wagoner with six. Tenslee Wilson chipped in with three points, while Ava Brown had one point to close out the scoring.

Heritage then beat Ringgold on Thursday to clinch the NGAC’s Eastern Division title, but no further informatio­n on the game had been provided as of press time.

Lakeview 29, Trion 25

The NGAC Western Division leaders also got a scare early last week, but were able to hold off the Lady Bulldogs in a game at Lakeview. Christina Collins had 12 points in the win. Sydney O’Neal added six points. Piper Piatt and Christen Collins had four points each, while Kayla Lopez finished with three.

Lakeview 50, Saddle Ridge 24

Christina Collins poured in 18 points as the Lady Warriors rolled to the league win on Thursday in Rock Spring. Christen Collins had nine points, while O’Neal and Zoey Gray-Martin finished with six each. Katelyn Bowman had five points, followed by Lopez with four, Catherine Seiffert with two and Ashlyn Isbill with one.

For the Lady Mustangs, FanTasja Barber had six points and five steals. Vianca Segarra also had six points on a pair of 3-pointers, while adding three steals and a rebound. Haynie Gilstrap had one from long range and added four boards, while Lexi Baker grabbed nine rebounds to go with three points and five steals. Sara Pendley (two steals), Olivia Hitchcox (one rebound) and Avery Jenkins (one steal) all had two points apiece.

Saddle Ridge 26, LaFayette 19

The Lady Mustangs trailed 8-7 at halftime last Tuesday, but rallied in the second half to beat the Lady Ramblers.

Segarra had a team-high 11 points for Saddle Ridge. She connected on three 3-pointers and picked up three steals and two rebounds. Baker had six points and three steals, but had a big night with 17 rebounds. Haven Yancy added six points, eight steals and four rebounds. Pendley (two points), Barber (one point, six rebounds, five steals) and Gilstrap (three steals) contribute­d in the win.

Individual scoring for the Lady Ramblers had not been provided as of press time.

Dade County 31, Chatt. Valley 20

The Lady Eagles trailed 20-15 at halftime in last Monday’s make-up game in Trenton and held the Lady Wolverines scoreless in the fourth quarter. However, Dade outscored Chattanoog­a Valley 11-1 in the third and the Lady Eagles themselves managed just four points in the final period.

Miriam Gaines had six points for the Lady Eagles. Madison Lennon finished with five points, while Molly Pickard had four. Lexie Elswick scored three points and Haile Thompson added two.

Ringgold 37, Chatt. Valley 18

The Lady Tigers picked up the win on Eighth Grade Recognitio­n Night last Tuesday as Emily Love had nine points. Hannah Scott and Aubrey Lakin added six points each. Tahji Griggs had four, while River Lowery, Allie Massengale, Riley Burdette, Maddy Lee, Kelsey Davis, and Shelby Kaylor had two points each for Ringgold.

Katieann Thompson had six points for CVMS, followed by four each from Lennon and Autumn Pasley. Gaines chipped in with three points, while Camby Arthur added one.

Dade County 38, Chatt. Valley 26

In Thursday’s opener in Flintstone, Gaines had nine points for the Lady Eagles. Haile Thompson finished with seven points, while Katieann Thompson added four points. Pickard, Emma Yarbrough and Cate Volyes had two points each.
