LFO teams bow out in Region 6-AAA tournament
The fifth-seeded LFO Lady Warriors used a huge second half to roll past ninth-seeded Adairsville, 64-37, last Tuesday in their first game of the Region 6-AAA tournament at Ringgold High School.
LFO got three 3-pointers in the first quarter from Milijah Williams as they led 16- 9 after the first eight minutes. However, LFO’s offense would begin to cool off in the second quarter as the Lady Tigers came back to forge a 24-22 lead at intermission.
But the second half would be a much different story. Williams and senior sharpshooter Macey Gregg would get hot and stay hot, while the Lady Warriors ratcheted up the defensive pressure. LFO would outscore Adairsville 22-11 in the third quarter and 20-2 in the fourth to move on to the next round.
Williams and Gregg both finished with 23 points apiece. Anna Rountree had six points and Dekeia Rowe finished with five. Two points each by Ateana Copeland and Gracie Cochran, along with one point from Alesya McBurnett, rounded out the scoring.
Sonoraville girls 57, LFO 36
The Lady Warriors had beaten the Lady Phoenix, 47-46, last week in Fort Oglethorpe, but Sonoraville would storm out to a 25-7 lead after one quarter and never look back.
Williams ended the night with 17 points, followed by 12 from Gregg, who also added nine rebounds. Rowe had three points and five boards, while Rountree, Copeland and Mackenzie Begley all had two points apiece.
LFO finished its season with an 11-16 overall record.
Ringgold boys 58, LFO 49
A game-high 31 points from senior Ruddy Ware was not enough for the fourth-seeded Warriors on Thursday as they were eliminated by their county rivals.
Deandre Rowe went for eight points, followed by Zach Coots with seven and Cameron Gregg with three.
LFO ended its season with a 12-14 record.
