2019 Preseason Catoosa-Walker County Football Dream Team

QB — Nick Hanson (Heritage) The junior signal-caller is coming off a sophomore year that saw him throw for over 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns in his first year as a starter.

RB — Jordan Blackwell (Ridgeland) The reigning 6-AAAA and Walker County Offensive Player of the Year rushed for 1,122 yards and 15 scores last season, while picking up two more TD’s through the air.

RB — Kori Dumas (Ringgold) The Tigers’ young standout showed flashes of brilliance as a freshman, rushing for 363 yards and three scores, and is primed for a breakout season this fall.

RB — Jamario Clements (LaFayette) The junior hit the weight room hard in the offseason and is ready to help shoulder the load for the Ramblers after rushing for 305 yards and two touchdowns in 2018.

WR — Henry Ellis (Gordon Lee) The tall, rangy receiver had 18 catches for 233 yards and a score last season and picked up first team All 6-A North honors as a freshman.

WR — Sam Randolph (Heritage) The senior, making his debut with the Generals this fall, has the size and speed to create matchup problems throughout the region and also holds several DI offers.

OL — Derek Gibson (Heritage) The senior has been a fixture on All-Region teams the past two seasons and is becoming a solid college prospect among a good Heritage offensive line.

OL — Kobe McAlister (Heritage) After weighting several offers, the 6-foot-7, near 300-pounder will play next fall at the University of Cincinnati, but will be an anchor on the Generals’ line this season.

OL — Reid Williams (Ringgold) The senior, who also had his share of offers, recently selected nearby Chattanoog­a after setting a school-record for knockdown blocks in a single season as a junior.

OL — Austin Crowley (Gordon Lee) The senior was a solid defensive player for Gordon Lee last year, but made his mark at offensive guard as he earned second-team 6-A North honors for the Trojans.

OL — Noah Haney (LFO) The senior will look to keep the Warriors’ recent tradition of outstandin­g offensive lineman going as he gets set to open holes for LFO’s run-heavy attack.

ATH — Jalen Suttle (LaFayette) The junior made his presence felt last season with 393 yards on the ground and four TD’s. He’ll play more at receiver this year and will have a bigger chance to show his open-field speed.

K/P — Conner Middleton (Ridgeland) The senior was 20of-22 in PAT’s last year and 2-of4 in field goals with a long of 45 yards. He will also handle the punting for the Panthers this season. all the way to the second round the Class 4A state playoffs.

DL — Xavier Priddy (LaFayette) After a solid junior year that saw him record 22 tackles with a sack and two forced fumbles, even more will be asked of the senior defensive lineman this fall.

LB — Terrance Roberts (Ridgeland) An All-State player, Roberts recorded 87 tackles with seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss to earn Walker County and 6-AAAA Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2018.

LB — Zach Brown (Heritage)

As a sophomore, he recorded 76 tackles — 59 solo — to earn second-team all-region honors and will anchor an athletic defensive front for the Generals this fall.

LB — Todd Thornburg (LFO)

The senior shared Catoosa County Defensive Player of the Year honors last year after racking up 120 tackles — 100 solo — with two sacks, four fumble recoveries and one intercepti­on.

LB — Kyle White (Ringgold)

The sophomore will share time at quarterbac­k this season, but was an All-Region second team pick on the defensive side last year after 95 tackles with eight going for loss and two sacks.

DB — Julian Brooks (Ridgeland) The senior was one of the Panthers’ top tacklers a year ago with 78 stops. He also recovered three fumbles and made the 6-AAAA All-Region second team.

DB — Drake Bing (LaFayette) The senior had a big junior campaign with 42 tackles, 10 pass breakups, an intercepti­on and a forced fumble and will be a leader in the secondary again this season.

DB — Jacob King (LFO) The senior finished with 75 tackles, four intercepti­ons and seven pass breakups a year ago to earn first-team 6-AAA honors, while also shining as a receiver in a limited role.

DB — King Mason (Ridgeland) As a sophomore, Mason was one of the leaders in a very athletic secondary with three intercepti­ons. His speed and range will make it tough for opponents to throw on him this season.

DB — Brayden Broome (Ringgold) The senior baseball standout can also play a little pigskin and finished 2018 with 29 tackles and five intercepti­ons, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

ATH — Cade Peterson (Gordon Lee) The junior picked up 6-A North second team honors a year ago after 65 tackles and one intercepti­on. He will move to linebacker this season and will also play fullback.
