Gordon Lee, Lakeview out of softball gates fast

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans gave up a run on an error in the bottom of the first inning, but shut down the Ringgold Lady Tigers the rest of the way to post a 5-1 victory in Ringgold last Tuesday.

Gordon Lee trailed 1-0, but that would change in the top of the fifth inning as Tenslee Wilson delivered an RBI-single to tie the game. Later with the bases loaded, Kate Chambers would bring in a run with a groundout and Gracie Helton would follow up with a two-out RBI-hit to make it 3-1.

The Lady Trojans would tack on two insurance runs in the top of the sixth on RBI-singles by Wilson and Gisele Tankersley.

It would be more than enough run support for Sydney Garrett, who did not allow an earned run in the complete-game victory. She walked three batters and finished with eight strikeouts.

Wilson was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base for Gordon Lee. Helton and Lillian McCullough both had two hits in the win.

Riley Burdette scored the only run for Ringgold while Burdette, Maddy Lee and Braylee Raby all delivered singles. Raby pitched six innings, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and two walks with two strikeouts. selves in a battle Thursday afternoon at Heritage and the game would end in a tie after the top of the 10th inning.

The two teams were deadlocked at 4-4 after seven complete and both teams would put up one run apiece in the eighth, ninth and tenth innings.

Wilson went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Lady Trojans. Chambers had just one hit in four at-bats, but made it count with a triple. She finished with four RBIs on the night. Sadie Patrick pitched three innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. McCullough pitched the next seven innings, scattering seven hits and striking out two.

Avah Morrison pitched the first 1.2 innings for Heritage. She gave up three earned runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout. Addi Edwards pitched the final 8.1 innings. She did not allow an earned run and gave up just one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Alexis Faulkenber­ry had three hits, including a double, as she finished with two RBIs on the night. Edwards and Macey Collins both had three hits and one RBI each. Harper Carstens and Ella Blansit had two hits apiece, while Blansit picked up one RBI.

The Lady Warriors continued their hot start to the season with a big win on Thursday. Heidi Johnson gave up just two hits and struck out 12 in the win. A seven-run outburst in the first inning turned out to be the difference in the six-inning, run-rule win.

Marissa Moreland went 3-for-4 with a double, a pair of triples and two RBIs. Carlee Wilson had two hits and two RBIs, while Lexi Downey also drove in two runs.

The Chattanoog­a Valley Lady Eagles made the short drive to Ridgeland High School on Thursday to host Saddle Ridge and the future Lady Panthers returned to Flintstone with the victory.

Individual statistics for CVMS had not been provided as of press time.

Olivia Acuff went 3-for3 for the Lady Mustangs with a double, a solo homerun and three runs scored, while also starting a pair of double plays from behind home plate. Alivia Hughes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Avery Jenkins had a hit and an RBI. Olivia Free had a pair of strikeouts in the circle, while Kennedy Hays fanned one batter.

The Lady Ramblers lost a heartbreak­er on Thursday, despite seven strikeouts in the circle from Kaylee Tatum. Rylee Gamlen had two RBIs, including a triple that tied the game with two outs in the seventh inning. Tatum also had a hit and an RBI.

Emma Parker, Ciarra Lara and Emma House each had two hits and an RBI, while one of House’s hits was a triple. Jaiden Vinyard collected two hits. Suki Williams had a hit and an RBI. Shayne Callahan was credited with an RBI and Jaselyn Couch also picked up one hit.
