Craft, Henderson, Chandler all finish in Georgia top three at Baylor

Heritage’s Allison Craft and LaFayette’s Devin Henderson both finished as runner-up in the individual standings for Georgia teams at Thursday’s Front Runner Championsh­ips at the Baylor School in Chattanoog­a.

Craft clocked in 21:09. She was second only to Coahulla Creek’s Kaylee Bandy, who won the individual title for the Georgia teams at 19:25.

Emily Woody was 10th overall in the Georgia individual girls’ standings for Heritage at 23:27, while Alexis Faul was 11th at 23:49. Mia Callahan finished 14th at 24:08 and Allie Mifflin was 16th at 24:22.

Also racing for the Lady Generals was Kalei Howard (25:43), Emma Tennyson (26:08) and Gracie

McCoy (30:08).

Ridgeland got an 18th place finish from Cate Voyles as she crossed the line in 24:26. Emily Scott gave the Lady Panthers two runners in the top 20 as she finished in a time of 24:39.

Also running for Ridgeland was Mary Scott (25:25), Trinity Deane (26:07), Sydney Finch (26:45), Macie Boren (26:47), Olivia Blanchard (29:02) and Riley McBee (31:44).

Natalie Ball set the pace for LaFayette with a 24:23 to finish in 17th place. Hope McClure (27:00), Alethea Hendrix (27:13), Caitlyn Watson (27:41), Zoe Haggard (28:55), Brittany Aguero (29:19) and Natashia Cooper (31:53) rounded out the varsity lineup for the Lady Ramblers.

Southeast Whitfield won the team title for the Georgia girls with 38 points. Heritage was second with 53, followed by Coahulla Creek (65), Northwest Whitfield (86), Ridgeland (117) and LaFayette (156).

As for the boys’ race, Henderson’s time of 17:26 broke his own existing school record by 13 seconds. Josh Perea was 14th at 18:32, while Jack Wilson was 20th at 18:59 to give the Ramblers three runners in the top 20.

Also racing for LaFayette was Steven Sanford (19:36), Andrew Long (19:38), Crandale Jackson (21:37), Gage Henderson (21:37) and Eli Prince (33:42).

Gavin Chandler placed third for Heritage with a time of 17:37. Luke Shackelfor­d was eighth for the Generals at 18:09 and Davis Justice finished 15th at 18:35.

Also running for the Generals was Gauge Sartin (19:01), Collin Black ( 19: 39), Jake Krajeskiy (19:43) and Ryan Walker (20:24).

Will Voyles led Ridgeland with an 18:48 to finish in 17th place, one spot ahead of teammate Matthew Cole (18:53). Rounding out the varsity roster for the Panthers was A.J. Walker (19:00), Beau Baker (19:17), Sam Dickson (19:30), Joseph Brown (20:22), Kevin Schmelzer (20:23) and Henry Holden (20:59).

In the boys’ team standings, Coahulla Creek, led by a 16:08 from individual winner Lane Hollis, won the meet with 23 points. Heritage (77) was second, followed by LaFayette (91), Southeast Whitfield (93), Ridgeland (106) and Northwest Whitfield (123).

The Region 6-AAAA Championsh­ips were slated for Tuesday of this week at Edwards Park in Dalton.
