LFO falls at opener on the road, wins at home

The LFO Warriors were edged out in their Region 6-AAA opener last Wednesday, but rebounded for a home victory on Thursday.

The Rebels scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to deal the Warriors a tough loss in Tallapoosa.

Both teams would score solo runs in the fifth inning. The Warriors’ tally came on a Carson McCammon RBI. The senior finished the day 2 for 3 at the plate, while Josh McAfee was 2 for 4. Devan Hinton also had a hit for LFO.

McCammon threw the first six innings. He allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Zac Coots suffered the loss as he pitched the seventh in relief.

LFO 4, Adairsvill­e 1

The Red-and-White scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the bottom of the third and Riley Mosier made the runs hold up in a home victory.

Mosier struck out 11 batters in seven innings. He gave up one earned run in the top of the seventh and allowed just four hits and two walks on the afternoon.

The Warriors picked up a run on an error in the first inning and another run on a sacrifice fly by Will Carroll. Two innings later, McCammon would single before scoring on an RBI-double by Carroll. Courtesy runner Gabe Helton would eventually come around on a Tiger error for the fourth and final run.

McAfee had two of LFO’s five hits on the afternoon as the Warriors improved to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 6-AAA play.
