Saddle Ridge boys continue hot start

The Saddle Ridge Mustangs got four goals from Andrew Martin in a 10-0 win over Chattanoog­a Valley in an NGAC soccer match in Rock Spring last Monday.

Jacob Hamilton scored twice and assisted on two more goals, while Landon Kennedy also scored two times and added one assist. Levi Ledford had a goal and an assist in the victory. Kaden Miller scored once and Garren Kennedy helped out with a pair of assists.

Defensive standouts included Micah Newsom and Spencer Chadwick, while Jude Godfrey earned the shutout in goal.

Saddle Ridge girls 2, Chattanoog­a Valley 1

The Lady Mustangs moved to 2-0 for the first time in the program’s history after pulling out a win over the Lady Eagles.

CVMS led 1-0 at halftime, but Ryleigh Ramey scored 16 minutes into the second half to tie things up before Ember Davis knocked in the eventual game-winner six minutes later. Cece Davenport had a solid game in net for the home team.

Lenna Simonsen scored the only goal of the day for CVMS.

Rossville boys 4, Dade County 2

The Bulldogs collected a win in Trenton last Monday behind two goals from Bryan Ojeda and one each from Branson Dean and Brandon Quintanill­a.

Dade County girls 3, Rossville 1

The girls’ match saw the Lady Wolverines pick up the win. Rossville’s only goal came in the second half as Maria Ronda scored off an assist by Briannah Carson.

Lakeview girls 3, LaFayette 1

In LaFayette, the visiting Lady Warriors got the victory in last Monday’s NGAC contest.

Anesa Merdzo scored the first goal for Lakeview, while Kaylee Mizell found the back of the net twice in the win.

Channing Johnson scored the lone tally for LaFayette, while keeper Suki Williams had several saves in goal.

Lakeview boys 3, LaFayette 1

The Warriors completed the sweep in the nightcap. Individual scoring from the match was not available as of press time.

Dalton girls 2, Heritage 1

The Lady Generals were edged out in a road match last Monday. Cadence Greven scored the only goal for Heritage off an assist from Anna Bradford.

Results of the boys’ match were not available as of press time.

Ringgold swept on the road

Ringgold Middle School traveled to Trion last Monday and lost both ends of the doublehead­er. The Lady Tigers fell 9-1, while the Tigers dropped a 6-1 decision to the Bulldogs.

Liana Talley scored for the Ringgold girls and Cove Lea found the net for the Ringgold boys.

Heritage boys 5, Lakeview 0

The Generals got two goals each from Levi Kooi and Nicolas Mendez in a shutout victory at Lakeview on Thursday.

Triston Simmons scored the other goal and recorded an assist, while Landon Guthrie also had an assist.

Cruz Jackson and Andrew Cass were praised by head coach Nate Erwin for their work in the midfield, while defensive standouts included Owen Gebelein, Caleb Brown and Hunter Brookshire. Keepers Jay Williams and Grayson Stallings combined for the clean sheet in goal.

Heritage girls 6, Lakeview 1

The Lady Generals got two goals from Greven and two goals and two assists from Zoie St. John in a win over the Lady Warriors on Thursday.

Taylor Wade had a solo goal for Heritage, while Airearina Williams picked up a goal and an assist. Allie Boyd also finished with an assist.

Defensive standouts for the Lady Generals included Natalie Butler, Addie Edwards, Emilie Freeman, Victoria Gray, Lily Langston, Briley Simpson and Reagan Stallings, while keeper Reese Abercrombi­e recorded three saves.

Individual scoring for the Lady Warriors was not provided as of press time.

Saddle Ridge boys 8, LaFayette 5

The Mustangs got impressive performanc­es by Hamilton and Ledford in a soggy home victory on Thursday afternoon.

Hamilton scored four times and assisted on three other goals, while Ledford had a hat trick and added four assists of his own. Landon Kennedy had the other goal for the Mustangs, while Garren Kennedy picked up an assist.

Scoring for the Ramblers came from Caden Hinton, who knocked in all five goals for the Orange-and-Black.

LaFayette girls 7, Saddle Ridge 1

In the night’s other match, Johnson had a hat trick for the Lady Ramblers, while Teara Snider and Jenna Baker both scored twice in the victory. Williams had several saves in goal for LaFayette.

Addison Sanders scored the only tally for the Lady Mustangs. Davis and Maddie Underwood had shots on goal for Saddle Ridge, while Lady Mustangs head coach Susan Key named Ramey, Alesia Leaks and Olivia Cornejo as standouts in the midfield, along with defenders A.J. Yates, Addi Hurt, Emerson Crutcher, Courtney Wallin, Mattilee Massey and Davenport.

CVMS swept by Dade

The Lady Eagles suffered a 3-0 loss to the Lady Wolverines on Thursday, while the Eagles dropped a 3-1 decision. Brody Martin scored the lone goal for Chattanoog­a Valley.
