LFO keeps pace for high 6-AAA tournament seed

Four matches into the eightmatch race for the top seed in the Area 6-AAA tournament and the LFO Lady Warriors find themselves right in the thick of things.

LFO won three of its first four area matches last week, sweeping North Murray and Murray County at home last Tuesday, before going 1-1 against LaFayette and Rockmart Thursday night in Polk County.

On Tuesday, the Lady Warriors opened with a 25-15, 2516 win over the Lady Mountainee­rs. Madison Stookey had four kills and one block and Sydney O’Neal collected three kills and five blocks as they controlled the front row. Xitlalli Gomez had eight serve receptions and nine digs. Morgan Noblitt had four serve receptions and nine assists, while Bailey

Sullivan had six serve receptions, five digs, two kills and two blocks.

The Red-and-White closed out the evening with a 2518, 25-22 win over the Lady Indians as Noblitt had 12 service points, five serve receptions and five assists. Sullivan had 10 service points, six serve receptions and seven digs. Gomez had 13 digs to go with seven serve receptions. O’Neal finished with two kills and four blocks. June Lindroth added nine service points and one assist, while Taliyah Holland had eight service points, five digs and a pair of kills.

Two nights later, LFO coasted past Rockmart, 25-8 and 25-10, as Noblitt and Lindroth both collected 11 service points. Nobliltt added eight assists, two digs and two service receptions, while Lindroth also had six assists and two aces.

Stookey hammered home four kills. Sullivan picked up three kills, two blocks, three digs and four serve receptions. O’Neal recorded three kills and one block. Gomez had 10 digs to go with two serve receptions and Madison Gilliland finished with seven service points and a pair of kills.

However, they had a bit more difficulty with the No. 2-ranked Lady Ramblers, who posted a 25-14, 25-11 victory.

Noblitt had six service points, eight serve receptions, seven assists and a kill in the loss. Gomez finished with 15 digs and 10 serve receptions, while Sullivan had four digs and 13 serve receptions. Holland had four service points, three digs, two serve receptions and a kill, while O’Neal (4 kills, 2 blocks) and Gilliland (3 kills) rounded out the stats for LFO (7-7, 3-1).
