Middle School Softball: Defending champ Lakeview able to continue winning ways

Kori Kinsey delivered a walk-off RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Lakeview Lady Warriors to a 4-3 win over rival Ringgold in an NGAC contest last Tuesday afternoon in Fort Oglethorpe.

Lakeview led 3-0, but gave up three runs to the Lady Tigers in the top of the seventh inning to tie the ball game. Callie Branum had two RBIs in the frame, while Albany Jett added one.

But Brylee Pritchett led off the bottom of the seventh with a double for the home team, setting the table for Kinsey’s heroics.

Hope Alexander was the only Lady Warrior with multiple hits as she went 2 for 2 with a double and one run scored. She also made five putouts in the field. Marissa Moreland had a triple and knocked in a run, while Pritchett picked up an RBI in the contest. Madi Jimenez also contribute­d on defense with eight putouts.

Breanna Johnson gave up just one earned run on three hits in seven innings of work. She finished with two strikeouts to get the win.

Braylee Raby pitched six innings for Ringgold. She gave up four earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks, ending the night with four strikeouts.

Chattanoog­a Valley 6, Saddle Ridge 4

The Lady Eagles icked up the Walker County win, rallying from a 4-2 deficit after five innings to post an eightinnin­g victory last Tuesday.

CVMS scored twice in the top of the sixth to tie things up and they would go to extras still knotted up at 4-4 after a game-saving play in the bottom of the seventh. Three straight walks would load the bases with one out, but Emma Fowler would

catch a Tamra Yancy flyball in centerfiel­d and threw home to catcher Leah Johnson, who tagged out Olivia Acuff trying to tag up and score the game-winner for Saddle Ridge.

Kailynn Bailey would deliver an RBI-double in the top of the eighth for the Lady Eagles and Paisley Carter would bring in another run later in the inning to add to the lead.

Hadley Middlebroo­ks would close the book on the Lady Mustangs in the bottom of the eighth to pick up the win. She pitched all eight innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits. She walked 11 batters, but struck out seven.

Bailey finished 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Jamiah Lewis was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Desiree Powell was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI and Leah Johnson finished 2 for 3 on the day.

Raven Yancy was 3 for 5 with a run scored and three stolen bases for Saddle Ridge. Alivia Hughes had a hit and

knocked in two runs. Olivia Free had a double and an RBI, while Acuff drew four intentiona­l walks and scored twice.

LaFayette 13, Trion 1

The Lady Ramblers got a double, a triple and five RBIs from Kaylee Tatum in a big win over Trion last Tuesday. Tatum also finished with six strikeouts in the circle to pick up the victory.

Harley Perkins went 3 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Jaiden Vinyard was also 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Emma House had a double and an RBI. Jocelyn McCallie had two hits and drove in one run. Emma Parker added a double. Marlie Day and Jada Lara each collected one hit and one RBI, while Ciarra Lara added single.

LaFayette JV 15, Trion 0

Day collected two hits and drove in three for the junior varsity Lady Ramblers. Parker recorded a hit and two RBIs, while Charly Reynolds had two hits and one RBI. Jada Lara and Bailey Deal both had a hit and one RBI. Abigail Rowlls knocked in one run and Jenna Lively

added a hit.

Day fanned four in two innings of work, while Parker struck out two batters in one inning of relief.

Gordon Lee 3, Heritage 1

The Lady Trojans stayed unbeaten last Tuesday as pitcher Lillian McCullough limited the Generals to just one run in a complete-game victory. Kate Chambers and Cam Caradine had two hits apiece for Gordon Lee.

Addie Edwards pitched all seven innings for Heritage, allowing one earned run with two walks and four strikeouts. Macie Collins was 2 for 3 with a double. Ella Blansit knocked in a run, while Bree Wilson, Faith Alsobrooks and Reece Abercrombi­e all had one hit.

Lakeview 10, Chattanoog­a Valley 2

Skyler Phillips launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to help lift the Lady Warriors to a home win on Thursday in a battle of two previously­unbeaten teams.

Moreland had an RBI

triple earlier in the first inning to help give the Lady Warriors a lead they would never relinquish.

The Lady Eagles would cut the lead down to one run in the top of the third as three singles and two Lakeview errors allowed CVMS to push two runs across the plate.

But Lakeview would draw three straight walks to start the bottom of the third, leading to a five-run outburst. Kinsey highlighte­d the inning with a two-run double.

Makia Matthew matched Kinsey with two hits and two RBIs, while one of Matthew’s hits was a double. Alexander had two hits and knocked in one run, while Johnson and Jimenez both had one RBI.

Johnson gave up nine hits, but just one earned run in six innings to get the victory in the circle. She finished with four strikeouts.

Johnson, Fowler and Bralie Blevins had two hits each for CVMS. Middlebroo­ks allowed seven earned runs on six hits and five walks in three innings of work. She finished with three strikeouts. Carter pitched 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one earned run on three hits.
