Gordon Lee wins two straight on the road

The Gordon Lee Lady Trojans opened last week with 9-1 road win county rival at LaFayette on Monday, getting four runs in the third inning and five in the fifth.

Allie Farrow drove in three runs with a third-inning double, while six singles, two sacrifice flies and a LaFayette error would lead to the big fifth inning. Farrow finished 2 for 3 on the night.

Madison Farrow and Sidney Gasaway were each 2 for 3 with one RBI. Ashlyn Schmidt had two hits and scored twice. Jordan Dyer picked up a double and drove in one run. Emma Minghini added a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, while Emma Phillips and Emma Langston drove in one run each.

Langston got the victory, allowing just one hit in five innings of work. The run she allowed was unearned and she finished with nine strikeouts.

Gordon Lee 9, Armuchee 1

Gordon Lee moved to 2-0 in Area 6-A Public and 7-2 overall after blitzing the Lady Indians last Tuesday night in Floyd County.

The Lady Trojans, ranked No. 4 in the most recent Class A Public School state rankings, were up 3-0 after four innings when they erupted for six insurance runs in the top of the fifth.

Minghini pitched all five innings. She gave up just one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts, while the run she allowed was unearned.

Schmidt, Langston, Addison Sturdivant, Allie Farrow and Madison Farrow had two hits each, while one of Langston’s hits was a solo home run. Schmidt led the team with two RBIs, while Minghini, Gasaway, Dyer, Phillips and Allie Farrow all had one RBI apiece.

Gordon Lee had been scheduled to host Bowdon this past Thursday, but the game had to be postponed. No make-up date had been set as of press time.
