LFO in midst of late offensive slump

- By Scott Herpst

Haley Stahl pitched a four-hit shutout and drove in both runs as the LFO Lady Warriors picked up a big 2-0 Region 6-AAA victory at Rockmart last Monday.

Stahl walked one batter and struck out three in the seven-inning complete game.

LFO drew first blood in the top of the first inning. Heidi Johnson singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Carlee Wilson, took third on a passed ball, and raced home on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Stahl.

The senior then helped herself again in the top of the third with a two-out solo home run. Breonn and Britni Newbille each had a single in the victory.

Just a week after scoring four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim a 4-0 home win over Adairsville, the Lady Warriors had the tables turned on them in similar fashion on the road by those same Lady Tigers as the Green-and-Gold scored three times in the bottom of the sixth this past Wednesday.

Breonn Newbille had the lone hit for the Lady Warriors, while Stahl suffered the loss in the circle. She gave up just three hits and two walks in six innings, striking out four batters. None of the runs she allowed were earned.

A leadoff single by Johnson was all the offense the ninth-ranked Lady Warriors could muster on Thursday as they dropped a decision to the secondranked Lady Colts in Varnell.

Stahl pitched six innings. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits, struck out five batters and did not issue a walk.

LFO (12-10, 9-6) was slated to conclude the regular season on Tuesday of this week at home against eighthranked Rockmart.
