LaFayette girls stave off CVMS comeback attempt

The Chattanoog­a Valley Lady Eagles mounted a second-half comeback last Tuesday night, but ultimately fell two points short in a 22-20 loss at LaFayette.

Down by nine with just under five minutes left in the third quarter, CVMS battled back to pull within a point, 20-19, on a basket by Georgia Mae Anderson with 1:52 to play in the game. A frantic 1:22 followed as both teams missed shots and committed turnovers before LaFayette’s Emma House drew a foul and made two free throws with 30 seconds to play, pushing the lead back out to three.

Anderson would draw on a foul under the basket on the Lady Eagles’ next possession and hit 1 of 2 free throws. However, LaFayette was able to run out the final 16 seconds to seal the win.

Mya Woodard had 13 points for the Lady Ramblers, including three 3-pointers. Ella Webb went for five points, while Aleia House matched House with two points.

Anderson and JaMiah Lewis had seven points apiece for CVMS, followed by Emma Fowler with four and Maddi Champagne with two.

LaFayette boys 67, Chattanoog­a Valley 39

The Ramblers saw an early 8-1 lead erased as both teams put up 12 points in the opening quarter. However, the Orange-and-Black forged a 23-17 lead at intermissi­on before putting the game away by outscoring the Eagles by a 26-8 margin in the third.

Isaiah McKenzie, who did not score in the first quarter, came back with a game-high 21 points for the Ramblers over the final three periods. Asaiah Morton drained three treys and finished with 13 points, while Julian Lees added 10 points.

Khalas Finley had eight points, followed by Tucker Crowe with five, Bryce Careathers and Shi’Ray Walker with three each, and Kole Worley with two.

Carter Myers had 12 points for Chattanoog­a Valley. Holden Lyons added nine, while Isaiah Price and Kain Brown scored four each. Jamarcus Lewis, Jaishon McLin and Josh Langston had two apiece, and Aiden Russell and Jamie Hinton both chipped in with one.

Gordon Lee girls 51, Trion 35

The Lady Trojans got a dozen points from E.G. Hixon, eight from Kynleigh Custer and seven from Tenslee Wilson in a road win over the Lady Bulldogs last Tuesday.

Abby Logan had six points, followed by five from Charlsie McElhaney, four from Macartney Angel, three from Josie Lewis and two apiece from Kaley Russell, Cam Carter and Lexi Foster. Jenny Beth Freeman pulled down five rebounds. Molly Ellis had two boards and Kyleigh Custer recorded three steals.

Gordon Lee boys 33, Trion 32

The Trojans used a 15-2 margin in the second quarter en route to a road win over the Bulldogs.

Parker Scott had 11 points and three rebounds for Gordon Lee. Layne Parrish picked up nine points and five boards. Sam Sartin had four points and a teamhigh eight rebounds. Ty Thompson scored four points. Jackson Scali had three points and three steals, while two points from Aiden Goodwin rounded out the scoring.

Ringgold girls 59, Rossville 0

Brooke Bauldwin had 11 points for the homestandi­ng Lady Tigers in last Tuesday’s win, while Eryn Epps, Braylee Raby and Emma Stephenson scored eight apiece. Tori Epps and Kinsey Miller both added six, followed by five from Kinsley Forscutt, four from Kayla Lopez and three from Allie Massengale.

Ringgold boys 46, Rossville 22

Hunter Arnold had 11 points for the Bulldogs. Individual scoring for the Tigers was not available as of press time.

Gordon Lee girls 31, Rossville 9

Ten different players scored for the visitors in Thursday’s road victory, led by six points from Laney Wilson. Logan, Angel, Tenslee Wilson, and Kaley Russell each scored four points. Hixon, Foster, Carter and Kynleigh Custer each had two points, while Freeman added one.

Lacy Moyer scored five points for the Lady Bulldogs, including a 3-pointer. Heaven Coleman and Briannah Carson both had two points.

Gordon Lee boys 35, Rossville 17

It was also a balanced scoring night for the Trojans in the nightcap. Sartin had eight points, three rebounds and two steals. Scali and Dustin Day each finished with six points, while Day added five rebounds.

Troy Phillips had five points and four rebounds. Goodwin had a solid all-around night with four points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Thompson had three points and collected a pair of steals, while Sam Phillips also had three points.

Jamarion Burks finished with eight points for Rossville, while Bryson Donald had four points.

Lakeview girls 50, Dade 27

The Lady Warriors got 19 points from Christa Collins as they picked up a victory in Trenton on Thursday. Mercedes Thompson added seven points and Payton Rolfe finished with six.

Marissa Moreland and Hope Alexander each had five points in the win. Skyler Phillips added four, while Pritchett and Mia Valdes both dropped in two.

The boys’ game was not played.

Chattanoog­a Valley girls 32, Trion 28

The Lady Eagles made good use of Anderson’s first-ever doubledoub­le as they won a close game at home over the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday. Anderson scored 12 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds, while Lewis had eight points to go with six steals, six rebounds and four blocked shots.

Fowler, Desiree Powell and Bralie Blevins all scored three for the Lady Eagles, while Champagne finished with two.

Trion boys 56, Chattanoog­a Valley 54

Down 20 in the third quarter, the Eagles reeled off four 3-pointers in a span of two minutes to get back in the game, though they would ultimately fall two points short.

Myers had a game-high 22 points, including a 9 of 11 performanc­e at the free throw line. Lyons added 10 points and Lewis went for seven. Hinton finished with six, while Brown, McLin, Russell and Eli Massey all scored two apiece.

Heritage boys 43, Ringgold 37

In Boynton, the Generals improved to 11-0 overall, 8-0 in NGAC play and maintained their hold on first place in the conference standings with a narrow victory over the Tigers.

Ringgold jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but Cooper Bell would make three consecutiv­e 3-pointers in the second quarter and Kaleb Gallman would knock down two long range shots in the period to get his team back in the game.

Gallman finished with 18 points, while Bell and Caiden Bauldwin had nine points apiece. The rest of the scoring included four from Cayden Lowrey, two from Owen Carstens and one by Blake Debity.

Judah Smith had 15 points for the Tigers. Trevor Jones finished with eight points and Jacob Duarte scored four. Three each by Jake Neal and Bryce Harris, along with two each from Gavin Lakin and Taylor Pierce, rounded out the scoring.

The boys’ game was the only

game contested on Thursday.

Saddle Ridge girls 41, LaFayette 27

Down 25-24 at home to their rivals, the Lady Mustangs came storming back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Ramblers 17-2, to pick up a huge win on Eighth Grade Recognitio­n Night Thursday in Rock Spring.

Raven Yancy poured in 17 points and grabbed three rebounds in the win. Macee Casteel came through with a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Avery Jenkins battled foul trouble, but finished with seven points and four boards.

Olivia Acuff had five points and three rebounds, while Alivia Hughes scored two points, but pulled down nine boards. Lanie Hamilton had two rebounds and two big blocked shots. Olivia Free grabbed four rebounds, while Emilee Fountain and Alesia Leaks helped anchor the defense.

Emma Parker and Webb dropped in nine points each for the Lady Ramblers, followed by seven from Woodard and two from House.

LaFayette boys 61, Saddle Ridge 18

McKenzie had 12 points, Crowe added 11 and Caden Carpenter finished with 10 for the Ramblers. Careathers had nine points and Tristan Toss picked up seven. The scoring was rounded out by six points from Worley and three each from Morton and Lees.

Trey Pearson had eight points to pace the Mustangs. Hayden Bowman connected once from behind the arc for his three points. Max Davis, Harrison Gilstrap and Cell Nicholas all finished with two points, while Daxtin Edwards added one.

Gordon Lee girls 42, Dade 29

Logan had 11 points for the Lady Trojans and Angel finished with 10 in Saturday’s win. Tenslee Wilson scored eight and McElhaney had six, while two each from Kynleigh Custer, Freeman and Carter filled out the scoresheet.

Gordon Lee boys 36, Dade 26

The Trojans got 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals

by Scott in the final game of the day. Sartin had 12 points, seven boards and three assists. Goodwin and Troy Phillips each finished with four points and Scali chipped in with two.
