LFO girls, Ringgold boys serve up region tennis victories

The LFO Lady Warriors picked up a 4-1 victory over Coahulla Creek last Tuesday afternoon in Fort Oglethorpe.

Julie Shore led a singles sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Abby Garner won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Darcy Gilbreath won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, Zamiyah Ball and Lola Payne dropped a narrow 7-5, 6-4 decision at the No. 1 spot, but Natalie Sullivan and Makayla Ware would answer at No. 2 doubles with an 8-6, 7-5 victory.

The Warriors, however, were not as fortunate as they dropped a 5-0 decision to the Colts. All matches were played as Pro 8’s.

Carter Shiveley played two singles matches for the Warriors, while Britton Rodriguez played once. In doubles, Mason Leroy and Abram Crewswell joined forces at No. 1 doubles, while Anh Nguyen and Bradley Billegas teamed up at No. 2 doubles.

The LFO tennis teams traveled to Chatsworth on Thursday and lost a pair of region matches at Murray County.

Gilbreath got the only win of the day for the Red-andWhite with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at girls’ No. 3 singles.

Ringgold boys beat Sonoravill­e

The Tigers picked up a 4-1 win over the Phoenix on the courts Thursday night.

Camden Tunnell and Ty

Williams had singles victories, while doubles winners included the team of Issac Self and Elijah Wofford and the team of Luke Bender and Ben Edwards.

Ringgold’s girls, however, dropped a 4-1 decision. Michelle Cho and Katherine Mudrick had the lone win in doubles, while Alecia Wimberly and Izzy Hood picked up an exhibition win in doubles.

Ridgeland falls to Southeast

The Ridgeland tennis teams continued to show plenty of heart and fight last Tuesday as they battled before dropping very close matches.

Molly Pickard and Andrea Boyko played singles for the Lady Panthers, while Kaylee Thompson and McKenna Holder teamed up for doubles. Cobin McKelvy played singles for the Ridge

land boys.

Gordon Lee drops region matches

The Trojans and Lady Trojans traveled to the Rome Tennis Center to face off with Armuchee on Thursday and lost a pair of 5-0 decisions. No further informatio­n was provided as of press time.
