Soccer teams continue push toward playoffs

The LFO Lady Warriors moved to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in Region 6-AAA with a 3-0 win at Coahulla Creek last Tuesday.

Emma Leverrett, Sydnee Brown and Brooklyn Carter all found the back of the net in LFO’s sixth consecutiv­e victory, while Joanna Matute stopped 10 shots to record the team’s sixth shutout of the season.

The Warriors fell to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in 6-AAA with a 10-0 loss to the firstplace Colts in the nightcap.

North Murray girls 1, LaFayette 0

In last Tuesday’s opener in LaFayette, the Lady Mountainee­rs scored off a corner kick with four minutes in regulation to grab the victory.

LaFayette head coach Caleb Perry gave credit to keeper Laney Rayburn and the back line for an outstandin­g game. The Lady Ramblers fell to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in Region 6-AAA.

North Murray boys 2, LaFayette 1

Jacob Hamilton had a goal in the second half, but it was not enough as the Ramblers (6-2, 6-1) dropped their first region match of the year. Hayden Rainwater had eight saves for the Orange-andBlack.

LaFayette JV boys 5, Sonoravill­e 1

The Ramblers junior varsity teams moved to 2-1 on the season with a win this Wednesday.

Caden Hinton had a hat trick with Levi Ledford and Kaden Miller each scoring once. Micah Newsom, Landen Fredericks­on and Rob Hannah were listed as defensive standouts in support of keepers Lake Johnson and Jacob Brown, who had three saves each.

Ringgold girls 3, Murray County 0

The Ringgold Lady Tigers (5-1, 5-1) stayed in position to potentiall­y host a first-round state playoff match after a win over Murray County in Chatsworth last Tuesday.

Joanna Medlin knocked home a pair of goals with Kylee Culpepper and Alayna Custer picking up the assists. The Lady Indians had an own goal following a Medlin corner kick.

Murray County boys 1, Ringgold 0

The Indians took the nightcap, dropping the Tigers to 3-4 overall and 3-4 in region play.

Heritage girls 7, Central-Carroll 2

The Lady Generals (7-3, 4-1) took one more step toward a first-round home playoff match with an impressive road victory this past Wednesday night.

Lila Langston found the net twice, once off an assist by Carol Anne Giannamore and once after following up on a rebound off a shot from Molly Cason. Cason would score the second goal of the night for Heritage off an

assist from Emma Tennyson and Cason would add an unassisted tally in the second half.

Brooke Fairchild also recorded two goals in the Region 7-AAAA victory. She made it 3-0 off an assist by Cadence Greven and she redirected a Mady Raye Terry corner kick for her second goal. Greven scored the last goal of the night for the Lady Generals unassisted.

Heritage boys 0, Central 0

The Generals (5-6, 2-3) needed overtime and a shootout to finally secure a region win over Lions.

Gauge Sartin, William Cortez, Alex Bedwell, Chipper Grayson and Joseph Smith connected on penalty kicks in the shootout, while keeper Nick Hanson came up huge with a save in the fourth round of kicks to help his team to a victory.
