LFO maintains region position with 2 weeks left
The LFO Warriors came into the 2021 season hoping to earn a state playoff berth and send a large senior class out on a big positive note.
With just six region games left, they are on track to meet that goal, but things are only going to get tougher down the stretch.
The Warriors won two of three contests last week and went into the new week still in second place in the 6-AAA standings, although their lead over the next three teams in the standings can not be considered comfortable.
At 8-2 in region play, LFO sits just a game ahead of Coahulla Creek (7-3), who will take a four-game winning streak into the new week. Sonoraville (8-4), owners of a five-game winning streak, sits in fourth place, while LaFayette (5-5) is also charging
Richardson had a double and scored a run for the Ramblers, while Mann went 2 for 3 and scored once.
LaFayette 6, Rockmart 5
The Ramblers led 5-0 after scoring three times in the top of the fifth inning, but had to hang on to extended their winning streak to four on Friday.
Cepeda pitched 5.1 innings to get the win. He gave up four earned runs on three hits and two walks and finished
with nine strikeouts, while Radtke pitched 1.2 innings to record the save. He allowed two hits and one walk, while the run he allowed was unearned.
Richardson went 2 for 4 with a triple, two runs scored and one RBI. Deering doubled and knocked in two runs, while Tucker and Adams had one RBI apiece.
LaFayette’s series will the second-place Warriors will begin at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday in Fort Oglethorpe before they host the Warriors on Thursday at 5:30. The remainder of the schedule will include home-and-home series with Adairsville and Murray County.
