PUBLIC NOTICE FOR MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-132 and O.C.G.A. 21-2-9 (b) a municipal general election will be held for the City of LaFayette on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the LaFayette Senior Center located at 636 S. Main St., LaFayette, Georgia from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Qualifying for the municipal general election shall be held at the LaFayette City Hall located at 207 S. Duke St., LaFayette, Georgia, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021, and ending at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021. The hours of qualifying each day will be from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

*Two (2) Council Members are up for election (Ward 1 and Ward 2), qualifying fee is $108.00.

*Municipal Judge is up for election, qualifying fee is $108 *Mayor is up for election, qualifying fee is $126

Early voting will take place at the Walker County Courthouse, 103 S. Duke St., LaFayette, Georgia beginning on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, and will end on Friday, October 29, 2021. Voting hours are:

Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday voting will be October 16, 2021, and October 23, 2021, from 9 am. until 5 p.m.

To request an absentee ballot by mail, contact the Walker County Board of Elections and Voter Registrati­on Office at 706-638-4349. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 22, 2021.

The last day to register to vote for the municipal general election is Monday, October 4, 2021.
