Gordon Lee stays unbeaten in Region 6-A

The last time Gordon Lee and Northwest Whitfield met on the diamond was Aug. 18 and the Lady Trojans cruised to a 9-1 victory in Tunnel Hill.

The rematch was this past Wednesday evening in Chickamaug­a and Gordon Lee had no interest in letting the Lady Bruins return the favor.

The Navy-and-White got four shutout innings from senior Emma Langston and used nine singles, three walks and a wild pitch to beat their hosts, 9-0.

Langston scattered four hits, walked just one batter and struck out five before Sydney Garrett fanned three batters in her one inning of relief.

E.G. Hixon, Gracie Helton and Tenslee Wilson all had two hits in the victory, while Hixon and Helton each drove in a run. Kyleigh Fryar had a hit and an RBI. Anniston Hudson had a hit and knocked in two runs. Chloee Fryar also had two hits, while Allie Farrow collected two RBIs.

Gordon Lee 8, Mt. Zion 0

The Lady Trojans got three doubles from Farrow and a pair of RBIs from Langston as they sent the visiting Lady Eagles back home to Carrollton with a Region 6-A loss on Thursday.

Wilson was 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Lillian McCullough was 1 for 1 with two RBIs. Ryleigh Ledford scored three times and stole one base, while Emma Phillips had a double and drove in one run.

Garrett handled things in the circle. She gave up just two hits and one walk in six innings of work, finishing the night with 10 strikeouts.

Gordon Lee 7, Newnan 0

On the opening night of the Carrollton Invitation­al on Friday, the Lady Trojans stayed hot by erupting for six runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Hixon had a two-run hit in the inning and finished the game 2 for 3. Langston and Fryar also went 2 for 3, while Farrow, Hudson and Phillips had one RBI each.

Langston pitched five innings of one-hit ball, finishing with 12 strikeouts.

Gordon Lee 5, East Paulding 2

The Lady Trojans extended their winning streak by one more game early Saturday morning as Farrow had a solo homer in the win. Fryar went 3 for 3 with a pair of stolen bases. Helton was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Langston drove in a run.

Garrett threw all six innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits. She finished with nine strikeouts.

Cherokee 8, Gordon Lee 3

The streak finally ended at 13 games for the Lady Trojans at the hands of the Class AAAAAAA Warriors. Fryar and Hixon each went 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Helton picked up an RBI as well.

Langston pitched 2.2 innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits and one walk, while Garrett through 2.1 innings of relief. She allowed just one earned run on four hits and struck out one batter.

Gordon Lee (13-1) will jump back into Region 6-A play on Tuesday of this week with a long trip to metro-Atlanta to face Drew Charter School.
