- By Scott Herpst sherpst@npco.com

Suki Williams went 3 for 3, scored twice and homered, but it was not enough to get LaFayette a victory as the Lady Ramblers dropped a 5-3 decision at Dade County this past Wednesday.

It was the first game for the Orangeand-Black since an 8-7 victory over Ringgold on Aug. 24.

Williams scored LaFayette’s first run of the game on a passed ball before blasting a solo shot to start off the top of the fourth inning.

LaFayette loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the sixth, but were unable to score. Olivia Free plated Jaselyn Couch with an RBI-double in the top of the seventh, but that would be all the offense the visitors could muster.

Olivia Acuff had the only other hit for the Lady Ramblers. Ava Brown started in the circle and battled through five innings. She gave up four earned runs on six hits and three walks before Free replaced her in the sixth. The freshman allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out one in a relief appearance.

LaFayette 14, North Murray 1

Williams continued her hot streak on Thursday, going 3 for 3 and driving in four runs, as the Lady Ramblers improved to 3-1 in Region 6-AAA play by thumping North Murray in LaFayette.

Williams started her night with an RBI-single in the first inning and promptly belted her fourth homer of the year — a two-run shot — in the second inning. She capped her night with another RBIsingle in the third.

Acuff had an RBI-double in the second inning, while

her two-run double in the fourth inning clinched the victory on the run rule. Free was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. She also had an RBI-double.

Couch was 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Raven Yancy had a double and an RBI. Haynie Jane Gilstrap had a hit and scored twice, while Summer Burkett went 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Brown got the victory in the circle. She allowed just two hits in four innings. The run she gave up was unearned and she finished the night with four strikeouts.

Trion 6, LaFayette 4

The Lady Bulldogs put a damper on Senior Day festivities for the Lady Ramblers on Saturday as they scored the last three runs of the game to pick up the win.

Abby Sansing had two hits, including a double, for the Lady Ramblers. She finished with a pair of RBIs, while Acuff and Burkett each drove in a run.

Free threw six innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts

and two walks. Brown allowed two earned runs on one hit and one walk in her one inning of relief.

LaFayette (5-6) was scheduled to play at

Murray County on Monday of this week, but results were not available as of press time. The Orange-and-Black will host Sonoraville on Tuesday.
