Gordon Lee rolls into region play

Gordon Lee opened Region 7-AA/A play with a trip to Trion last Tuesday and cruised to a win in a best-of-five match, 25-6, 25-10 and 25-12.

M.K. Roberts had a solid night with nine assists, eight aces and seven kills. Brooklyn Hudson finished with a dozen kills and seven assists, while Sam Cramer dished out eight assists and added six kills.

The Lady Trojans followed up two nights later and got 16 kills from Hudson and a 12-kill, 15-assist performanc­e from Emoree Rogers as they swept LaFayette and LFO during a tri-match in Chickamaug­a.

Gordon Lee handed the Lady Ramblers a 25-20, 25-19 defeat before taking down the Lady Warriors, 25-12, 25-10.

Cramer had 19 assists on the evening. Arilyn Lee finished with nine kills, and Roberts collected eight digs to go with six aces.

The night’s other match saw the Lady Ramblers defeat LFO, 25-6, 25-5.

Colby Charland ended the evening with five kills, four blocks, four aces and 16 assists. Markella Johnson picked up seven kills and an ace. Alex Wysong had six kills to go with three blocks and two digs, while Daisy Felipe had nine digs and five assists.

Also getting on the scoresheet for LaFayette was Jaden Tucker (two kills), Shelly Warren (two kills), Michaela Baker (two kills, three blocks, one ace), Caitlyn Lambitz (one kill, two blocks), Kamryn Johnston (five digs, one kill) and Bella Brown (one dig).

Individual results for LFO were not available as of press time.

LaFayette goes 3-0 at Kell

The Lady Ramblers traveled to Marietta on Saturday to face three tough opponents and returned home with three tough victories as they swept a quad-match.

LaFayette opened with a 25-23, 2520 victory over Class AAAAAAA Duluth before a 25-19, 26-28, 15-6 win over last year’s Class AAA state runner-up Morgan County. It was a nice measure of revenge for the Lady Ramblers, who fell to the Lady Bulldogs in last year’s Elite Eight.

In their final match of the day, the Orange-and-Black took down Class AAAAAA Kell, the host school, 25-21, 12-25, 15-7. Individual statistics for the matches were not available as of press time.

Gordon Lee (15-2) will look to go to 2-0 in Region 7-AA/A play on Tuesday of this week as they travel to Fannin County. Union County will also be a part of the tri-match. LaFayette (16-5) will open Region 6-AAA play on Tuesday as they join Adairsvill­e for a tri-match at Coahulla Creek.

LFO (5-10) was slated to have participat­ed in a tournament at Coahulla Creek this past Saturday, but no results were available as of press time. The Lady Warriors will join North Murray for a Region 6-AAA tri-match at Murray County on Tuesday.
