Softball teams looking to build momentum for playoffs

Kaley Russell had three hits and four RBIs as the Gordon Lee Lady Trojans earned a 9-1 home victory over Dade last Tuesday.

The Navy-and-White had 13 hits in the victory, including 12 singles. Kyleigh Custer was 2 for 3 with an RBI and had a double for the team’s only extra-base hit. Marley Stone. Laney Wilson and Camdyn Carter each had two hits apiece. Abby Logan drove in a pair of runs, while Maddie Harvey knocked in one run.

Logan struck out eight batters in five innings of work. She walked two and allowed three hits, while the run she allowed was earned.

Heritage 10, LaFayette 0

Bailee Hollis gave up just one hit in five innings and went 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI as Heritage moved to 4-0 with a at LaFayette last Tuesday.

Hollis struck out 10 Lady Ramblers and walked just two in the victory. Landry White and Ema Tanner had two RBIs each, while Kinsey Woodard, Molly O’Brien and Paityn Weldon each knocked in one run apiece.

Alli Pettyjohn had the only hit of the game for LaFayette. Emma Parker pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Lakeview 11, Saddle Ridge 0

A 10-strikeout, one-hitter from Rylee Green lifted Lakeview to a shutout win in Rock Spring last Tuesday afternoon. Green pitched all five innings and surrendere­d just one walk.

Brylee Pritchett was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Hope Alexander also went 2 for 3, drove in a run and stole three bases. Mia Valdes had two hits, including a triple. She drove in two runs and scored twice, while Maelea Patty had a triple and an RBI for the Lady Warriors.

Carlie Cook had a single for the Lady Mustangs, while Kennedy Hays took the loss in the circle.

Ringgold 21, Saddle Ridge 0

The Lady Tigers got three hits and four RBIs from Emma Harper, along with eight strikeouts by Emorie Coles, in a victory at Saddle Ridge this past Wednesday.

Coles allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate with three RBIs. Albany Jett and Katy Haddock both had two hits and two RBIs.

Braylee Raby scored three times and drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Tigers. Piper Gilbert scored twice and had two RBIs, while Grace Evans and Ariana Battle each knocked in one run.

Tamra Yancy had a triple for the Lady Mustangs. Cook and Hays each had singles, while Hays struck out six and walked five in four innings of work in the circle. She gave up just three earned runs.

Ringgold 11, Trion 7

The two teams combined for 29 hits on Thursday night, but it was the homestandi­ng Lady Tigers getting the better end of the scoreboard.

Jett had five hits in five at-bats and scored three times in the slugfest. Haddock was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Hayden Gordy went 2 for 4 and scored twice, while Raby and Coles each drove in two runs.

Kylee Lyons was 2 for 3 and picked up one RBI, while Harper and Battle each drove in one run to aid the cause.

Coles pitched all seven innings. She allowed three earned runs with three walks and five strikeouts as the Lady Tigers improved to 3-2.

LaFayette 12, Saddle Ridge 0

The Lady Ramblers got eight strikeouts from Parker in a home win over Saddle Ridge on Thursday. Parker threw three no-hit innings, while Marlie Day fanned one in a hitless inning of relief.

Emma House was a homerun away from the cycle as she went 3 for 3 with a single, a double and a triple to go with two RBIs. Parker and Day each had three hits with a double and two RBIs. Harley Perkins had a hit and knocked in two runs, while Charly Reynolds had a hit and an RBI.

Cahlee Garmany had two doubles and two RBIs with Jenna Lively picking up a hit and an RBI.

Hays pitched all three innings for the Lady Mustangs. She allowed seven hits and just three earned runs, while striking out one batter.

LaFayette 15, Saddle Ridge 0 (JV)

LaFayette went on to claim a victory in the junior varsity contest behind an eight-strikeout no-hitter from Jada Lara. Lara also helped herself with two hits and an RBI.

Reynolds had a hit and an RBI and Gracie Davis went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Maddie Jeffries recorded two hits and drove in two. Kayla Robinson had one hit and two RBIs, and Hannah Phillips finished with two hits and one RBI.

Lively had a triple in the win, while Prezleigh Baty and Parker Tudor had one hit apiece.

LaFayette 11, Lakeview 2

A seven-run second inning helped the Lady Ramblers to a home win on Friday afternoon.

Parker had a big day by going 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. She also struck out nine batters in five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and one walk.

House and Perkins each had two hits and one RBI. Garmany doubled and knocked in a pair of runs. Jocelyn McCallie was 1 for 3 and scored twice, while Day had one hit and one RBI as LaFayette improved to 6-3 on the year.

Pritchett was 2 for 3 with a double for the Lady Warriors (4-4). Kaleigh Johnson and Alexander each a had double and an RBI, while Lizet Jimenez picked up a triple.

Green allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks in 1.2 innings in the circle. She finished with one strikeout before handing off to Riley Pell. Pell pitched 2.1 innings of relief, giving up two earned runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Heritage 13, Saddle Ridge 0

The Generals scored six runs in each of the first two innings and coasted to a win on Friday.

Hollis had two hits and knocked in four runs as Heritage moved to 6-0 on the year. Woodard was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. White went 2 for 3 with one RBI, and Tanner also recorded two hits.

Weldon knocked in a pair of runs, while Maggie Potts, Piper Martin and Paisley Collins each had one RBI in the victory.

Weldon pitched two innings of two-hit ball, striking out six and walking just one. Hollis threw one inning and fanned three hitters.

Ella Ferry and Yancy each had singles for the Lady Mustangs (14). Hays pitched four innings, giving up four earned runs with four strikeouts and four walks.

Gordon Lee 7, Heritage 4

After an initial postponeme­nt, a long-awaited showdown between two of the favorites in the NGAC this fall finally came to fruition on Saturday as the Lady Trojans scored a hard-fought victory in Boynton.

Kyleigh Custer went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Lady Trojans (13-2). Carter was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Logan, Wilson, Russell and Josie Lewis all finished with two hits each. Lewis and Logan also picked up solo RBIs.

Logan pitched all seven innings, allowing four earned runs with two walks and three strikeouts.

Collins, White and O’Brien each had two hits for the Generals (6-1). Collins finished with two RBIs and White added one, as did Martin.

Hollis pitched all seven innings for Heritage, allowing seven earned runs and a walk with four strikeouts.
