Three SEC foes highlight UTC women’s hoop slate

- From Press Release

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball head coach Katie Burrows announced the 2021-22 slate featuring 15 home contests and a trio of SEC foes.

Chattanooga opens the season on November 9 at home against instate opponent Belmont. Murray State and Georgia State will both make the trip to the Scenic City in November and December will begin in the Roundhouse against Alabama.

A three-game home stand highlights the month with Cincinnati, North Alabama and UNC Asheville at the McKenzie Arena before the holiday break.

Back-to-back games at Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State open up the Mocs on the road. UTC will head to Kennesaw State, UAB and Vanderbilt in the opening month. In December, UTC will travel to Eastern Kentucky and then on to Thompson-Boling Arena for a contest with Tennessee after Christmas and close out the non-conference slate at Jacksonville State.

The Mocs will take on each Southern Conference opponent twice with one at home and the other on the road. January will see five away matchups for the Mocs beginning with a three-game road trip to Samford, Mercer and East Tennessee State. A home weekend with Western Carolina and UNCG will split the road games, ending the month at Wofford and Furman.

February will keep the Mocs home for five of seven contests, with a threegame home stand against the Bears, Bulldogs and Bucs. UNCG and Western Carolina will make the journey to Chattanooga while UTC will close out the season at home against Furman and Wofford.

There are three doubleheaders at home on the calendar. The first will be November 27. The women will host Georgia State and the men will welcome former SoCon rival College of Charleston. Two will be in February beginning with Samford on the fifth. The men will host Mercer. The final will be the season finale for both teams. The women will take on Wofford and the men will host Samford.

The 2021-22 Southern Conference Tournament remains in Asheville at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Arena March 3-6.

Prior to the official tip-off, fans will have a first-look at the Mocs who will host Georgia College in an exhibition match at the Roundhouse on November 5.
