Heritage maintains perfect start

The Heritage Generals enjoyed another big week last week with five victories in just three days to stay unbeaten at 11-0 on the season.

Heritage 21, Southeast 1

Completing a three-game Region 7-AAAA series in Dalton last Monday, the Navyand-Red rolled to a fourinning victory in the second game of the series. Freshman pitcher Zoe Hendricks did not allow a hit in four innings in the circle. She struck out six batters and the run she allowed was unearned.

Macie Collins went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Jenna Ryans was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Madeline Stone belted a tworun homerun and Riley Kokinda was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Gracie Dawson and Abbie Young each had two hits with Young picking up an RBI. Adie Ball had a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Savannah Wilson scored three times, while Zoe Wright and Avah Morrison had one RBI apiece.

Heritage 15, Southeast 0

An 11-run inning to begin

the nightcap would be all the run support senior Brinley Horner needed. Horner allowed just two hits in three innings and struck out two batters, while the Generals ended the game with seven extra-base hits, five doubles and two triples.

Ryans was 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Stone was 2 for 2 with three RBIs. Kokinda and Collins each had two hits and two RBIs. Dawson had two hits and one RBI, while

Gibson, Wright and Wilson all knocked in one run each.

Heritage 4, Northwest 2

In Tuesday’s opener in Tunnel Hill, the Generals put up two runs in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Stone and they would tack on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, one on an RBI-single by Collins.

Collins went 3 for 4, while Stone and Wright each had two hits. One of Wright’s hits was a seventh-inning double. Kelsey Anderson got the victory. She allowed eight hits over seven innings, striking out six batters and walking just two, while only one of the runs she allowed was earned.

Heritage 6, Northwest 5

The Navy-and-Red took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but gave up four runs over the next two innings before eventually winning it in the 10th.

In the 10th, Gibson started the inning at second base and was bunted to third on a sacrifice by Dawson before Wright brought her in with an RBI-double. Lexi Duckett later singled to send Wright to third and base and Kokinda delivered a sacrifice fly to bring in Wright.

Northwest would score once in the bottom of the 10th, but left the tying stranded at first base to end the game.

Addie Edwards pitched the first six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Anderson pitched four innings of relief and got her second victory of the night. She gave up just two hits and finished with two strikeouts.

Duckett had a big game with four hits and an RBI. Young went 2 for 4 with a double and a triple. Wright and Dawson also had two hits each, while Stone recorded one RBI.

Heritage 6, Northwest 1

Down 1-0 after the top of the third inning, the Generals scored six unanswered runs and completed the three-game sweep with a victory Thursday afternoon in Boynton.

Two runs came in the bottom of the third inning on an error and an RBI-single by Collins before Heritage blew the game open with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Duckett got the inning going with a triple and Collins later ripped a tworun double. Gibson was hit by a pitch with the bases full to record a tough RBI before Morrison brought in the final run on a sacrifice fly.

Dawson and Stone also had singles for Heritage (110, 9-0). Edwards pitched the first three innings and allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Anderson got the victory with four scoreless innings of relief work. She gave up just two hits and fanned two batters.
