Ridgeland now 2-2 in region play

The Ridgeland Lady Panthers are now 2-2 in Region 7-AAAA after going 1-1 against Southeast Whitfield and Heritage last Tuesday night in Boynton.

Ridgeland defeated the Lady Raiders in the second match of the night, 25-23, 25-14, and pushed the Lady Generals to three sets in the finale. The Lady Panthers won the opening set, 25-22, before Heritage tied things up with a 25-17 victory in the second set.

However, Heritage won the third set, 15-5, to seal the win.

Natalee McClain ended her night with 19 kills. CeCe Davenport had nine kills and a block, and Asia Silmon finished with eight kills and a block. Ashley Ladd had six

kills and five aces on the evening, while Koda O’Dell

picked up five kills.

Piper Newbille had five aces and three kills. Bailey Fowler finished with six digs and five aces, while Madison Lennon had two aces, one kill and one dig.

Ridgeland closed out the week with a trip to Trenton on Thursday and suffered a loss to Dade County in a best-of-five-set match.

Dade won the opening two sets, 25-17 and 25-23, before Ridgeland (9-7) took the third set, 25-19. However, the Lady Wolverines won 25-22 in the fourth to clinch the victory.

McClain had 12 kills on the night, followed by Davenport and O’Dell, who had 11 kills apiece. Ladd added four kills. Silmon had four kills and pair of aces and Ivey Stargel picked up three kills and one ace. Fowler recorded 16 digs and a pair of aces, while Brylee Benson had 15 digs to go with an ace.
