NGAC softball tourney set to start this week

Softball teams in the North Georgia Athletic Conference began wrapping up the regular season last week as their attentions turn to the yearend NGAC Tournament, which was slated to begin this week.

LaFayette 2, Red Bud 1

The Lady Ramblers got 11 strikeouts on a two-hitter from Marlie Day last Monday afternoon in a non-league contest. Day also had two hits in the victory. Jocelyn McCallie finished with a hit and an RBI, while Emma Parker added a double.

LaFayette 12, Red Bud 2 (JV)

Jada Lara fired her own two-hitter in the nightcap as she struck out four in a win. She also helped her own cause with a hit and an RBI at the plate.

Cahlee Garmany had a big game with two hits and four RBIs. Maddie Jefferies collected a pair of hits and drove in one run, while Kayla Robinson had a double and knocked in two runs. McCallie and Jenna Lively each recorded a hit and an RBI, and Prezleigh Baty had a triple.

East Hamilton 10, Lakeview 4

The Lady Warriors led 4-0 after two innings last Monday, but could not hold on to the lead and fell to the visitors in a non-league game.

Hope Alexander had two hits and knocked in two runs, and Lizet Jimenez was 2 for 4 with one RBI for the Lady Warriors. Rylee Green also had two hits for Lakeview, while Riley Pell and Brylee Pritchett had one hit apiece.

Rebecca Howe went the distance in the circle. She allowed seven hits, but only four earned runs. She finished with four walks and four strikeouts.

Dade 15, Saddle Ridge 5

The Lady Mustangs scored in four of six innings last Monday, but it was not enough to claim a victory in Trenton.

Tamra Yancy had a huge day at the plate with two doubles and a triple in three at-bats. She finished with three RBIs. Ella Ferry was 1 for 2 with a run scored and three stolen bases. Kennedy Hays had a hit and scored twice, while Elliot Rogers scored one run.

Hays pitched five innings, allowing

seven earned runs with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Ringgold 10, Chattanoog­a Valley 4

Last Monday afternoon in a game played at Ridgeland High School, Braylee Raby was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Emorie Coles and Katy Haddock were each 2 for 4 with one run scored. Ariana Battle, Emma Harper and Shelby Spates drove in one run apiece for the Blue-and-White.

Coles pitched the first five innings,

giving up two earned runs on six hits and two walks. She finished with 11 strikeouts before Raby pitched two innings of relief. She allowed just one hit and two walks with four strikeouts.

Bralie Blevins threw all six innings for the Lady Eagles. She gave up eight hits, but only surrendere­d one earned run and ended the afternoon with two strikeouts.

Leah Johnson paced the offense for CVMS by going 4 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. JaMiah Lewis was 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and one run scored, while Kailynn Bailey and Maddie Champagne each had a hit.

LaFayette 10, Dade 3

The Lady Ramblers moved to 7-3 on the year after a road win last Tuesday as Parker fired an 11-strikeout, two-hitter, and collected one hit and one RBI at the plate. Emma House was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and only needed a homerun to complete the cycle. McCallie had a double, a triple and two RBIs, while Harley Perkins went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Day, Garmany, Livley and Charly Reynolds added singles with Garmany driving in one run.

LaFayette 8, Dade 1 (JV)

The Orange-and-Black completed an unbeaten season as Lara fanned eight of 11 batters and got it done at the plate with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Jefferies had two hits. Robinson had a hit and knocked in two runs, while Reynolds, Gracie

Davis and Parker Tudor picked up one hit apiece.

Chattanoog­a Valley 7, Dade 3

A two-out, RBI-triple by Blevins plated Johnson in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie last Wednesday in Trenton. Four more runs scored in the top of the seventh as CVMS made Dade pay for three walks as Johnson and Kailynn Bailey hit back-to-back, two-run doubles to seal the victory.

Bailey finished the afternoon 3 for 4, while Johnson and Blevins each went 2 for 4. Champagne also chipped in with an RBI.

Blevins pitched three innings of one-hit ball. She allowed two earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Champagne pitched four innings of two-hit ball. The run she allowed was unearned and she also finished with one walk and one strikeout.

Gordon Lee 11, East Hamilton 1

A seven-run eruption in the top of the fourth inning would give the Lady Trojans plenty of breathing room in a non-league victory in Chattanoog­a this past Wednesday.

Kaley Russell paced the offense by going 3 for 3 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs. Laney Wilson was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Josie Lewis drove in two runs, while Abby Logan, Camdyn Carter and Kinleigh Custer had one RBI apiece.

Wilson handled things in the circle. She surrendere­d just three hits and two walks while finishing with six strikeouts. The run she allowed was earned.

Gordon Lee 13, Chattanoog­a Valley 0

A 10-run second inning would propel the Gordon Lee Lady Trojans (16-2) to a win at Ridgeland High School on Thursday afternoon.

Lewis went 2 for 3 with four RBIs in the victory. Carter had two hits, including a double, to go with one RBI. Logan had a hit and drove in two runs, while Wilson, Custer and Maddie Harvey all had one RBI apiece.

Logan pitched four innings and gave up just two hits. She also walked two batters and struck out four as Gordon Lee improved to 16-2 on the season.

Bailey and Blevins had the only hits for the Lady Eagles, both were doubles. Blevins surrendere­d five earned runs on eight hits in three innings of work in the circle, while

Champagne gave up an unearned run on two hits in one inning of relief.

Trion 12, Saddle Ridge 1

The Lady Mustangs fell to defeat at the hands of the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.

Hays went 2 for 2 and scored the only run for the Navy-and-Red in the fourth inning. After a single, Hays stole second and was moved to third before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Carlie Cook.

Hays also pitched all four innings, allowing five hits and five walks with five strikeouts.

Heritage 8, Lakeview 0

The Generals got two RBIs apiece from Ema Tanner and Kaylin Fuentes in a win on Friday.

Fuentes, Landry White and Piper Martin each had two hits in the victory, while White, Martin and Paisley Collins all drove in one run apiece.

Bailee Hollis pitched all five innings, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks as Heritage moved to 8-1 on the year.

Pritchett went 2 for 3 for the Lady Warriors (5-6) and Green went 1 for 2. Green pitched three innings with two strikeouts and two walks, while Jimenez gave up one unearned run in 1.2 innings of work.

Chattanoog­a Valley 4, Saddle Ridge 1

The Lady Eagles had just one hit on Friday, but parlayed it into four runs and picked up a win in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Blevins had the only hit of the game for CVMS (3-7) and drove in a run, while Lewis, Abby Barnes and Briannah Medrano were all credited with one RBI. Champagne pitched five innings of two-hit ball. She gave up just one earned run with four walks and five strikeouts, while Blevins pitched two innings of relief, striking out two and walking two.

Hays went 1 for 3 with an RBI and two stolen bases for the Lady Mustangs (1-7). Ferry was 1 for 4 and scored a run, and Hays pitched six innings. She allowed four earned runs on one hit with three strikeouts.

Dade and Ringgold were slated to play on Monday in the final regular season game to determine final seedings for the tournament. Due to newspaper deadlines, results were not available as of press time. The tournament was scheduled to start on Tuesday of this week, weather permitting.
