BAKER, Judy Watson

-

Judy Watson Baker peacefully passed from this life to her eternal life with Jesus Christ on September 30, 2021. She spent the last days of her 82 years in her home, under the extraordinary care of her loving husband and hospice.

Growing up in LaFayette, Judy attended LaFayette High School and then the University of Georgia where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education.

Beautiful Judy married the handsome Russell (Buddy) Baker in June 1963. They had two children and eventually moved from LaFayette to Chickamauga in 1971. Judy taught in several area schools throughout her years including Osburn Elementary, Happy Valley Elementary, and Chickamauga Elementary. She enjoyed being in the LaFayette Women’s Club, playing Bridge with her husband and other couple friends, volunteering as a room mother for her children’s elementary classes, being a member of the Chickamauga Garden Club, and taking weekend trips from time to time with Alpha Gamma Delta sorority sisters. She was gifted at sewing and other activities such as cross stitch, embroidery, and quilting. She loved to read and was a wonderful cook, although she claimed to not enjoy it very much.

Judy was passionate about UGA football and loved her Dawgs. She especially enjoyed teasing her husband, Buddy, when her Dawgs beat his Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. She developed a love for country music later in life. She enjoyed watching CMT and could name all the latest country songs and artists.
